  1. thanks for your mini review! how does the NYX fit onto your EQ6 tripod, does it need any special adaptors?
  2. Bubble Nebula and Lobster Claw Nebula First time I've imaged this lovely part of the sky and I can see what draws imagers to it. There's so much going on in there and that also becomes a challenge to balance everything. Imaged on a WO Star 71 with SHO narrowband filters on a ASI2600MM. Total time about 7.5 hours over two nights in the last week. Integrated in APP and processed in Photoshop
  3. This is impressive for your first post, your new scope is working very well!
  4. Hello and welcome to SGL from another Scot
  5. This area around the Crescent Nebula was imaged over 4 nights as I wanted to capture the Soap Bubble. Originally planned to do 3 nights (one filter per night) but SII and OIII was still quite noisy so spent some extra time on those two filters Captured with a WO Star 71 and ASI2600MM (Antlia filters), processed with APP and Photoshop 45x300sec HA 72x300sec OIII 74x300sec SII
  6. This is the Lion Nebula also known as SH2-132 shot over 3 nights in October and November. Each night I used a different filter to build up this SHO image over 13 hours. Imaged using a WO Star 71 and ZWO ASI2600MM 45x300sec HA 57x300sec OIII 54x300sec SII Integrated in APP and processed in Photoshop
  7. That's a beautiful shot, wouldn't have guessed it was taken in April!
  8. Really nice clean image and colours in that. Didnt know there were so many fuzzies around there!
  9. Originally I was going for HOO on the Flaming Star but due to very faint OIII I switched to SII instead. Wasn't sure what I'd get as I've never tried HSS but quite pleased with the results. Nearly 6 hours of 5min subs in HA and SII using 3nm Antlias. Stacked and processed in APP and finished off in Photoshop
  10. M81 is well placed now so thought I'd give it a go. Seems popular with satellite trails too! Nearly 8 hours of lights in LRGBHA on a 2600MM & WO Star71 First time processing LRGBHA in APP and found combining the various channels and colour balancing really easy.
  11. Thats a fantastic set of images with the palette tying them all together
  12. Thats an amazing video Martin, incredible that you captured it in realtime
  13. I made a time-lapse of the aurora during my stay in Tromso, Norway at the beginning of the month. This was all shot in one night as we moved to different locations during the night from dusk to 1am. It was shot on a Canon R5 at ISO 1600 - 2000 @ f2.0 and shutter speeds of 5 - 10 secs using a Laowa 15mm f2 Zero-D Lens. The images were batch processed in Lightroom (colour balance, straightening, vignette removal) and exported into Adobe premiere to make the time-lapse. Aurora_March_2022.mp4

  15. It was with Marianne that I went with too! She really is incredibly dedicated and passionate about the aurora.
  16. I'm staying in Tromsø for a few days but due to clouds our amazing and most determined guide drove us to Finland. After a few glimpse of green through the clouds I was absolutely blown away by the beauty of the Aurora in cold clear crisp skies. These a just a few of the photos straight off the camera. Will try and put together a time lapse when I get home
  17. Thanks Stuart, I use APP to stack and calibrate. Then I use the Combine RGB in the tools to combine the channels and do a rough colour balance using the sliders mapping HO to the RGB. I use Photoshop to do an initial stretch then extract the stars with Starnet2 to they don't get too bloated and bright during the main processing. For that I use the Camera Raw tool in Photoshop to do the bulk of the colour balance and noise reduction. Its such a powerful and flexible tool that I hardly touch the other image adjustment tools in photoshop.
  18. This is about 20x5mins HA and 25x5mins OIII using Antlia 3nm filters. Will try and get SII at some point
  19. Congratulations! thats an amazing achievement and absolutely deserved. Love the colouring you did on the image.
  20. Managed to get 3 hours each on HA and OIII with an ASI2600MM. First time processing with Starnet 2 and like the way you can control the star sizes when you really have to stretch the data out.
  21. Fantastic time-lapse of the aurora, looks like a nice dark spot too!
  22. Only managed 2 hours of 300sec on the Horse Head under hazy skies and a bit of dew on the scope so fairly happy with it.
  23. Love the framing of this with the pelican looking down on the wall
  24. About 5 hours worth of 5 minute subs taken with a WO Star 71, stacked in DSS and processed in Photoshop.
