  1. I had a similar sensation and also wondered if an increase in floaters in one eye. Optician refered for a OCT scan which revealed I had what's called a macular hole in one eye. It's an age-related permanent tear in the retina, thankfully static and does NOT lead to full deterioration like macular degeneration. Luckily for me its in my weak eye. It's worth looking at an amsler grid to see if you can detect any distortion (for me very slight) - this could mean one of several defects some of which are serious. https://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/amsler-grid.htm Better looked at on paper than on screen I think. any doubts ask an optician about a scan, get a referal or you can pay yourself to get one at a well known high street optician chain. Hopefully you'll have none of these but highly recommend a check.

The FTDI TTL232R module only has rts/cts and TXD/RXD on the connection pads. The chip has DTR so to use this you have to solder to the pin indicated (0.5mm spacing!)

    mounting brackets

    From the album: Equipment

Close up of mounting brackets. One screw is fixed, the other can be adjusted to provide lateral alignment. The adjustable screw is allowed to rotatefreely at one end by using a nylock nut, the other end goes into a tapped hole so its length changes as it is turned. Vertical alignment provided somewhat more crudely with a slotted hole for one of the screws to the binocular body.

Three finders! The right angled- one for direct viewing shows the shortened front section of tube. The straight finder will have a webcam attached for remote use.
  12. From the album: Equipment

Old pair of 8x40 bins modified to give a cheap right-angle finder, plus a straight-through finder for attaching a webcam. The right-angle finder has had the prism removed and the front section of tube shortened to get the right path length through the diagonal. The mounting brackets provide some adjustability for alignment.
