    Look in c /windows/system32/drivers/ for a driver called ser2pl64.sys (I have the 64bit version) If it is not there, download that file and place it in the folder.

    Ive had another go getting ASCOM running with the EQDIR cable but still no luck in recognising the correct port. when i fire up ASCOM it flickers on screen for a split second then disappears then reappears etc. Going to try wiping everything and starting from scratch when ive got some free time next week. 

    Yes, this is what happens. Did you look for the file I suggested? This will resolve the port issue. Also, run Toolbox from EQMod instead of EQascom.
