    My husband known here to some of you as Freddie passed away earlier this morning, He knew this day would come  because he had been very ill for some time. He wanted me to make a last post for him in the event that it did. He is at peace now and with the stars he loved so much.

      I used to love  the cold Gerry but age has changed my mind for me ..... I must admit a cold and frosty landscape looks awesome, but it looks more awesome from behind double glazing ? The sauna sounds ideal.

      Me too Charl, I don’t mind the cold but the clouds and rain seem never ending. If it carries on for much longer I am going to sell all my kit and settle for some decent binos.

    Just been reading you're instructions for the IOptron MT.

    In the article, you mention you use a pipe grip to tighten the large clutch wheel underneath the mount head.

    Can you please advise which "PG" you use? I need one for my Mini Tower II Pro.

      Hiya there.

      I just use a standard pair of grips, any that will open wide enough will do. I also put a tea towel around the wheel to minimise any damage to the knurling. It only requires a pinch to tighten.

    Exasperation is setting in with this hobby....decided to try imaging again due to LP killing visual observation, only to be clouded out time & time again after first sub.

      One certainly needs at least one other hobby to run parallel with astronomy of any kind, esp in the UK with our cloudy weather and the apparent love some of our neighbours have of bright lights ? I also do plenty of XC cycling and practice bushcraft type life skills to keep me occupied.

      I believe the Taks stop at 10mm so a bit pointless..... I would like a Nikon but I cannot find a UK outlet .... and I do not want to get one from Lord Voldemort as he is not having my cash ?

    Well that's it. 56 eye pieces, 14 telescopes (including finders), 3 diagonals, 3 mounts, 3 tripods.

    Its got to a point now where I feel unwelcome more than welcome on SGL, more often than not. This seems apparent due to the curt replies I get, based on my opinions or tastes, from officials & devotees of certain brands. Stargazers are a conservative bunch apparently. Also on SGL at least, paranoid that just one individual can discourage others to buy certain products, or send more than my critics think necessary.

    I joined the forum last August & have learned a lot, not only about kit, techniques, tech stuff etc.

      Richard ...... also remember that text has no tone or expression to it and it is very easy to both offend and be offended, thus posts can be very easily taken the wrong way.  I for one do not think any posts you have made or replies received have been intentionally personal ....... I have also been amused at times with some threads involving you....... but you do kind of put your head above the parapet ?
