  1. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have a close look for hairs. Also check how close any stars may have bee to the FOV. Thank you!
  2. HI SGL Folk, Here is a recent image of M101. The JPG is the output from batch processing in PI with an extreme STF applied. Really pleased with the detail in the galaxy but confused what the streak is in the top left portion of the image. I blinked the sub frames and it is present in each frame. I noticed something similar but in a different position in my image of NGC4565; it is in the lower right corner. The camera and filter (ATIK 314L and Astronomic 1.25" UV/IR cut) were in the same orientation for both images as they were taken on the same night without rotation of the camera. Any ideas as to what is causing this streak? Tube reflection? Many thanks, Brendan
  3. I’m no expert but I would start by checking the collimation and at least eliminate it as a potential source. Could also be the size of the imaging chip is pushing the limits of the scope / reducer and giving you coma due to the optics. Looks like you can get a decent crop of M51 though. Good luck!
  4. Awesome! Hopefully we'll get some clear skies to enjoy soon. Be interested to hear how you get on with the fitting.
  5. Thank John. Very tempted by the Rowan. Mount forever by the look of it. But the wallet says different.
  6. Hi stargazers, Looking for advice or experience! I've a nice imaging set up - neq6 with either and ed80 or the c925 working away. It's well honed so I can leave it to do its job. So I'm thinking to get a mount that can be as grab and go as possible so I can mount up visually for the ed or c925. I think the alt az route is where I'd like to go. It seems that the skytee 2 could do the job? I've also seen a WO ez mount going second hand - would it take the c925? Or do i need to think bigger such as the losmandy az8 or rowan? Both a bit steep price wise and could have an neq6 for the same cash but would lose simplicity which is what I'm after. Any experience or advice greatly appreciated. Brendan
  7. Thank you for the advice. When the children let me I'll have a go!
  8. Thank you! I'm still hoping to use pi ( or similar) with ekos so will have another play.
  9. Hi Revisiting this thread after a few years. Did altair ever release the binaries for arm processors? Thanks
  10. Ah. That’s a shame. Hopefully they will in time. Thanks for the info.
  11. Hi Following with interest. I’m trying to build a pi3 to run my imaging rig. I guide with a gpcam. Will the above work with ubuntu mate on a pi? I did try and got a desktop shortcut but I couldn’t get it to run. Thanks Brendan edit: should have added that I had to re image the card shortly after but not due to the altair software.
