  1. Hi all - With the consistently poor weather in Ireland, I'm considering moving my RC12 rig to one of these two places in Spain. I know a few here host there - any pros or cons that would help me decide against one or the other? Thanks! Peter
  2. Thanks for that. I was already planning on replacing the focuser, so that's good to have confirmed. Cheers, Peter
  3. Hi folks - Considering this: https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p6512_TS-Optics-12-inch-f-8-Ritchey-Chr-tien-Astrograph---carbon-truss-tube.html I'm pretty sure this is a rebranded GSO, and it looks like they've corrected the problem with the focuser being directly connected to the mirror and causing problems that plagued earlier versions. My question is: does anyone here have direct experience with this telescope? Either this specific one, or a fairly recent other brand cut from the same cloth? It'll be mounted on an iOptron CEM120EC2, and will be guided with an OAG. It'll be used with an APS-C size sensor (QHY268C), and I don't plan on getting a reducer for it - so I'm particularly interested in whether it will provide the advertised flat field up to that size. My concerns are what non-obvious quirks it may have that would make it difficult to use - I'm talking mechanical quirks - I know it's a long focal length and has all those difficulties. Thanks for any insight! Cheers, Peter
  4. Seems I have a pair of guide cameras then. I have a SX CoStar and this one. Any thoughts on which is better? Cheers, Peter
  5. Thanks Dave, that's exactly what it is. It's been driving me nuts. Who doesn't put their branding on a product? 😃 Cheers< Peter
  6. Hi guys - it's been a good few years since I did any astro work and am getting back into it. I was dusting off my gear and came across this camera. I have no idea what it is - it has zero markings on it and is not recognized as anything other than 'unknown device' when I plug it into my computer. It would be 2012/2013 vintage, whatever it is. Can anyone shed light? Thanks! Peter
  7. I don't yet own a CCD camera, but have my eyes on the 383L+. However, the lack of Mac support has me on the fence, and I may spring for the QSI 583 primarily for that reason. So I'd be interested in this.
