I too have finished the first week, though will be re-visiting bits of it. Really does get you thinking about a lot of things.

  14. Over the moon!

  15. Great news James - I know that Torsten gave up on the temperature reading in Firecapture due to problems with the SDK, so think you have done well to get this. Looking forward to the new release in the not too distant future, but hope the weather clears and you get a few nights out under the stars before hand.
  16. Fog, fog and more fog - Just make out Jupiter and the moon!

Couldn't even see that down here in Cornwall - in fact couldn't even see the end of the garden and that is less than 40ft away!

Hmm - I did see the moon and a very dim, fleeting Jupiter at it highest elevation - fog stayed in all night. What a shame the IOW doesn't have any bigger hills so I could climb up out of the fog :(

Not saying I didn't miss the camera, Saturn and Jupiter were stunning and the seeing was good on Friday night and fair to good Saturday. Seeing Saturn at 600x in a 24" obsessions with powermate/ethos is extreme temptation, thank godness I left the plastic at home :)

  18. All packed up and ready for IW Star Party - Thursday, Friday and Saturday pass though have to be home Saturday night.

I wanted to paint similar things outside, what metal paint do you use and what kind of spray gun?

Just standard car primer and paints (Unipart Grey Etching Primer and Satin Black for the top coat). I sanded everything back hard, then etch primed - the grey enabled me to see the worst of the pits and blemishes, which I then feathered out with fine sandpaper and re-prined. Ended up using three tins of each, which is rather more than I expected on a 1m OTA, but cost just under £18. By no means body shop perfect, but I'm very happy with the end result. Should be good for anot...
