  1. So glad I put the cover over my scope last night

  2. If it rains any more I shall take up boat building and start collecting animals - 2 cats and 2 kids is a start in this line!

We've had the sun for a couple of hours this afternoon - almost felt like spring, but sadly a brief interlude before another round of heavy rain for tonight and Saturday.

Word of advice: Do not collect 2 wives. Did you know that the Chinese idiogram for "trouble" is 2 women under 1 roof. ;-)

      SnakeyJ

Clever people the Chinese - However I think in the case it's one of each sex, though I think Noah included a family ticket for his sons and their wives. The 2 x 2 bit may be a more recent lyrical interpretation.

Not saying I didn't miss the camera, Saturn and Jupiter were stunning and the seeing was good on Friday night and fair to good Saturday. Seeing Saturn at 600x in a 24" obsessions with powermate/ethos is extreme temptation, thank godness I left the plastic at home :)

      wowza! 600x in a 24"'er!!! i can only imagine lol :D

Passed us to the east and west so saw lots of lightening but never really got much thunder. A lot of rain though!

      SnakeyJ

Hopefully we'll catch some of that rain soon - I've just emptied the water butt and the garden is starting to brown off!

  5. Windy out, but looks clear and stable - just might be worth a quick play!

      Try the following:

"Come out here and have a look at the moon lady".

"Oh yes that is lovely man, I am really glad you bought that scope its was an excellent investment given the beautiful views we can now share"

      Haha ;)

Hmmm... I think the Blue might be hit more by moonlight than you think. You've probably got about another 30min before gradients kick in. Im on SII now, before going back to M31 for a Ha top-up.

    3. SnakeyJ

      SnakeyJ

I just managed the blue, but green looks very thin now under the moon - I'll capture 20 mins worth then move on and have a crack at Neptune and Uranus - that way I'll be ready for Jupiter if the clouds keep away!

    4. Daniel-K

      Daniel-K

managed about 1.5 hrs on m31 so far moons just coming over the tip of the house, may image some star fields and try and learn to process star colour nice to be out though!!!

Thanks Chris I managed about 90GB, or 15 runs on Jupiter at just under 4x (3800mm on my 200P). Seeing was pretty reasonable and I also managed a little lunar IR at the f/l as a quick experiment.

Great evening, but now the kids are up it's impossible to find the time to process anything!!

    3. Christopher Davenport

      Christopher Davenport

Lol, I constantly being nagged by missus because I am processing instead of playing with the kids.

      BTW. Nice capturing.

      SnakeyJ

Hope you guys got some in, patchy cloud came in down here and thickened gradually over night :( No chance on Jupiter this morning!

It's not bad, but I loose the east to trees - judicious pruning required.

  17. Tramadol is scary stuff - I was contemplating nipping out to the obs tonight before it started to wear off :(

    3. SnakeyJ

      SnakeyJ

Hmm, think I can cope without that thanks very much. I'll stick with brufen and paracetamol ;)

  18. Starting simple with M27, 30s subs and PHD2

    1. tingting44

      tingting44

what mount are you using? you can achieve 30s with a simple polar alignment, if your guiding, bang out a 5min sub and see how it looks :D

    2. SnakeyJ

      SnakeyJ

I'm getting too much noise on M27 and M92 - will have to try again dropping the iso down from 800 to 200 ish, though not sure if I will resolve more detail like this - the mount is the heq5 pro with Rowan belt mod, but PA a little suspect and needs some more tuning/drift alignment.

      sologuitarist61

Couldn't even see that down here in Cornwall - in fact couldn't even see the end of the garden and that is less than 40ft away!

    2. cotterless45

      cotterless45

Moon vs Jupiter, only game in town !

    3. SnakeyJ

      SnakeyJ

Hmm - I did see the moon and a very dim, fleeting Jupiter at it highest elevation - fog stayed in all night. What a shame the IOW doesn't have any bigger hills so I could climb up out of the fog :(

  20. Clouding up for the GRS Tansit :(

    1. Ant

      Ant

I've managed to get some AVIs of Jupiter with the GRS, but high cloud has played havoc with the quality :(

    2. SnakeyJ

      SnakeyJ

I did get 45 minutes of pretty good, just waiting for PIPP to presort my capture, but some looks ok even @ F22 - lets hope I get one reasonable set!

    3. Ant

      Ant

I processed one of my AVIs and to be honest they look really bad. Can't see much coming out of mine. Hope yours are better :)

  22. Amazing clear sky tonight - Might have to be late for work tomorrow ;)

  24. Just Me, M27 and the Wind

      SnakeyJ

Oh and the clouds, which are winning so far :(

    2. SnakeyJ

      SnakeyJ

      Here we go 40 x 15sec Lum

    3. SnakeyJ

      SnakeyJ

Gave up due to clouds but got some reasonable Lum data

  25. One more run on Saturn or turn in early?

    1. David Smith

      David Smith

Turn in early? No, you can't do that :-D

    2. SnakeyJ

      SnakeyJ

Looks like the clouds would stop me anyway - and after three nights I have been so grumpy with the kids. Tomorrow night looks good though and rumours of better seeing ;)

    3. emadmoussa

      emadmoussa

      Will be cloudy later tonight...
