From the album: Jupiter
Jupiter with Europa and Io. The Great "Red" Spot on view. Atmosphere not as stable so a low resolution image allowing 1/60th second exposure per frame of the video. Only the best 20% of frames used (as the others would be rubbish.© ©2014 Stephen Usher

Early evening on the 1st March, 2014 gave a short window of pretty stable atmospheric conditions, giving me the chance to get my best image of Jupiter yet. Celestron EdgeHD 1100 on Sky-Watcher EQ8 mount, Teleview PowerMate x2.5, Celestron Skyris 445C camera, IR filter. 2000 frames at 1/30th of a second exposure, 15 frames per second. Processed in Registax 6, 40% best frames.© ©2014 Stephen Usher

Initial, temporary installation of the EQ8 on the old CGEM adapter plate. No pin so having to slew by hand roughly!. -

From the album: Camera Tests
Colour balance before the camera died and was sent for repair. "Cloudy" white balance setting, ISO 400. -
From the album: Camera Tests
Colour balance after repair by Park Cameras. It used the same settings as the pre-repair test shot. It was just more sunny for the first version. They probably used the standard 60D calibration, which would be totally wrong for the 60Da. -

Jupiter with Io coming out from behind with Europa and Ganymede to the right. First test composite RGB image made using my new Celestron Skyris 445M monochrome camera and Meade RGB filters. Three images captured as 1000 frame videos (1/30s exposure, 15fps download) and processed within Registax 6 and saved as FITs files. Combined with Registax 6 and colour levels set. The image is inverted.© (c) 2013 S.R.Usher
