  1. You ever see that movie ¨The Money Pit¨ ?? Well astrophotography is like that. Whatever budget you come up with stick a few noughts on the end - best not tell the wife !!
  2. You should be able to dial out any backlash as part of the GOTO software - although you do not tell us what GOTO you have.
  3. I put an ADM saddle on my EQ5 - the double duty one that takes Vixen & Losmandy - brilliant quality.
  4. Stellarvue are brilliant quality - but rare this side of the pond.
  5. I bought an EQ5, then added the twin motor drives, and later sold them and added the Synscan GOTO. I was happy with all development stages!! A huge improvement can be obtained with all Synta mounts by cleaning out the glop they insist on fitting and relubing with some decent grease.
  6. http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/language/en/info/p3431_Skywatcher-Startravel-80---80-400mm-Autotracking-Teleskop.html Here is my grab ´n´ go. Very light and it tracks - but no GoTo.
  7. I am visual only and I love my Synscan GOTO kit - sold a set of dual motor drives to pay for it.
  8. http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/language/en/info/p3431_Skywatcher-Startravel-80---80-400mm-Autotracking-Teleskop.html This is my grab ´n´ go - very light, the AltAz mount doesn´t have GOTO but does track. I take a 7-21mm zoom lens, to reduce the mount of heavy glass.
  9. I am very pleased with my EQ5 with Synscan - whilst an EQ3 may be OK to mount an 80mm refractor, buying an EQ5 for not a lot more money gives a bit of future proofing.
