  1. For solar viewing you would cover the small hole with Baader solar film. The easiest way to do this would be to make a small tube to fit over the hole. This tube will have Baader solar film covering one end. You fit this over the hole on the scope cap so that you can observe the sunspots. Never attempt to look at the sun without the solar film cap on, and cover or remove the finder scope or it will melt very quickly.

  2. Top marks to Zoltan at 365 Astronomy. Phoned him Friday lunchtime to check availability of solar filter and Eos clip filter. Ordered straight away and recieved them Saturday morning. I did pay extra for Saturday delivery as expected. Would not hesitate to use them again.

  3. explosion doesn't seem logical to me. There would have to be a significant burst of energy to fragment a meteor (visible to the naked eye) and although it might break up, surely the fragments would still travel in the same general direction and then burn up like a shower of sparks.

Two meteors travelling in opposie directions....slightly possible.

Bouncing off the atmosphere might seem more plausible.

Aliens........NO. even alien spacecraft cannot turn at sharp angles. handbrakes do not work in space.

  4. There is no doubt about it Gina, you will have to run a very controlled test. Same subject, same night. Short subs at 3200 and longer subs at 1600. The processing should reveal the differences if any. If your theory is correct then both pics should look the same with equal processing.
