  1. I have managed to get both my mounts to work with Stellarium with very little bother which is surprising since I am not very technical.

    NEQ6 and CG5 GT

    I have a Vista laptop.

My only problems were trying to "choose the appropriate plugin from the list" (instructions I found on the Stellarium Users Forum), but there was no list which tripped me up for a while, however as soon as I selected the correct com port it sprang into action.

However I do find occasionally it won't connect for some unexplicable reason, Com ports checked (these often seem to change themselves).

    Carole

You're a genius Carole, the comm port is the only thing I hadn't checked, moved to comm4 and we're away.......if you were here I'd buy you a drink!:)

  2. This is the lens i bought 160 degree FOV...

2.1mm Board Lens 160° Angle FOV for CCTV Dome Camera on eBay (end time 19-Sep-10 11:45:11 BST)

For it to focus it basically had to be held flush with the lens mount in the 880... so no threads to hold them together.. I had a bit of self adhesive heat shrink which just fitted around the base of the existing lens mount and shrunk down to hold the lens... i used one of those cheap craft heat guns on its lowest setting which was enough heat to shrink the tube without melting the glue or desoldering the components from the 880's pcb...

Another way to do it is remove the existing lens bezel and lens make a ring of blue tack to temporarily hold the lens in place then when you have it focused just use a bead of hotmelt around the edge of the lens...

    Peter...

Ah gotcha - for some reason I thought you was referring to a fish eye from an SLR (which i've got knocking about doing nothing, and keep looking for a project to incorporate it into).....

Just bought one of those lenses off ebay, the wife has got the craft heat gun etc....so i'll give that a go! Thanks.

  3. Mine now has a super wideangle fish eye lens for use as a sky cam....

The lens unfortunately comes to focus about a 1mm further out than the existing mount thread would allow so a bodge was required...

A short length of the tube was added to the existing lens mount and then gently shrunk so that the glue softened but not activated allowing it to form to the thread on the lens body without sticking.. So I can still adjust the focus... :D

Once i am happy with the focus the gap between the lend barell and the camera body will be filled with hotmelt...

    Peter...

You sound like a man who's good with ideas......I got a super wide fish eye knocking about, and a spare cam from Morgans, but no adaptor to connect to the fisheye (well I've got one but it's slightly to small).....any ideas on how I might get around that?

  4. How come i ordered mine friday and im still to recieve it?! lol whats going on?!

Ordered mine on friday, they didn't come with my normal post this morning though....it's only cause I know the postman that he knew I was waiting and dropped them off a little while back for me after finding them.......you'll probably get yours tomorrow.
