  1. All seems to be not good. May as well get him a Win 10 laptop and see how things go from there.
  2. My brother wants to do so imaging. That is fine so he can have fun. He decided to purchase a Lenovo Cromebook laptop. Discovered a problem as you may have guessed. Firstly it is Win11. No big deal. It is new and has what is needed for USB ports and other bits all laptops have. So we get Deep Sky Tracker. This is where the problem starts. Apparently Cromebook does not like the .exe file format. It is as though I am speaking French to an alien and I am English. Incompatible. So how do I get my brother to start his fun if the laptop is not liking the file. Are there any other programs out there that can do what is needed to get some enjoyment. Looked in play store and seen Stellarium but that is of no use for star stacking or imaging and some others but they seen a bit dodgy. Any ideas?
  3. Glad it is saved as well. It was going to be crushed and that would have been the last of it. So it is getting a new life again.
  4. Here are pictures of the mirror. It seems that grass and other bits are on the mirror so it looks like it could do with a good clean. It is next to a more newer Sky Watcher telescope. Same mirror size but focal point is 900 instead of 650mm so it is a longer telescope than the standard ones now. Now to get a counterweight bar and sight for it.
  5. It is a 130D with a 900 focal. The mount is far bigger than the ones he has already. It is solid metal construction with the housing and the EQ mount. All that is missing is the weight bar and weights.
  6. Better than Wakefield where I was. Also near the Galloway observatory so it is dark enough. Can see the light haze from Kilmarnock on some nights as well. But yeah, a bit darker.
  7. Haven;t changed my online profile as not been on here for over a year. Moved to Scotland. So best get that sorted.
  8. My brother bagged a free telescope. A Sky watcher with mount, tripod and tray and one eyepiece. It was in the local tip and was going to get crushed. My brother got it as he has a few starter scopes that he likes so bagging a free one is him being lucky. Looking at it the optic barrel moves and the tripod is sturdy. A bit rusted on the screws which can be replaced. The problem is the mirror(s). They are manky. So with it being out in the open for suck a long time it has developed spots on the primary mirror. Not really looked at the secondary yet but the main mirror need a cleaning or a re-polish. So how can my brother get this clean? After all, it is a free telescope with standard EQ mount, setting circles and a fine adjustment cable. Hopefully the mirror is fine but I think the mirrors need a clean. So anyone got anywhere to send it to for a clean up?
