  1. Reply from Atik suggested that "overscan" was selected in Advance configuration and unticking should cure.  I found that "overscan" had not been selected, but I have discovered that after playing around with download settings on Maxims camera control page if I download subs using "fast download" the banding/column is still there but if using "Use advance Dialogue" no banding/column appears.

Until I am able to try it at night I will assume this is the solution.

  2. I have just purchased through Ian King, a QSI 683 wsg which was built by Atik. eather has prevented proper use but attached is a  copy of IC1848 which shows banding on the left. The banding is moire pronounced in the SHo version than on the subs. There has been little processing but subs were Darks subtracted. I shall email Atik to get their view as I would have thought that m y QSI would have the latest firmware.

  3. I bought my CEM60 3 years ago when they were not very popular  and doubts were expressed in forums re the magnetic clutches .  Mine has performed impeccably and  continues to do so.  I can thoroughly recommend the CEM 60.

It's good to see FLO will be stocking iOptron products as at the time I bought mine I had to get it from Germany as UK supplies were haphazard and scarce.

  4. Thanks for quick replies.

Skybound:  It wont slide out without  further dismantling ( the worm will not pass through the bearings as is)  which I'm reluctant to do until I know I can get a complete replacement unit.

Gnomus: The grubscrew lodged sideways originally and I was unable to turn it the right up. Eventually after lots of fiddling it disappeared into the depths. So you were fortunate to recover yours.

  5. Trying to remove the knob with the temperature gauge fitted in order to fit my autofocuser. I read the posts re the three grub screws holding the knob in place  but unfortunately the first grub screw has fallen into the  inside  and has jammed the knob and will not turn so I cant get at the other grub screw. I have spent time trying  fix it or remove the knob without success.  Although the focuser  will turn using the other knobs (which is strange when the Temp gauge knob is totally jammed) so I can still use the scope.

If anyone has had the same problem and has found a way to still remove the knob I should be glad to hear how it was done. Otherwise I think I shall order a new focuser. The part I would replace is shown in the photos.

  6. I have the x2 and agree with Physopto, the mini USB is still a problem. Despite securing the lead the socket is becoming wobbly.I also had the same problem with the mini USB socket on my Atik EFW2 filter wheel, i.e. the socket broke off the board and I had to have a new board fitted. We don't seem to hear of the same problem with mobile phones some of which also use the mini USB for charging. Presumably they have a more robust soldering point to the board.

  7. Been out of astro action for over a year due to domestic caring duties but now able to resume (imaging) and contemplating a new mount.
Presently my mount is an HEQ5 pro which is still working well but I fancy a new mount to gain the advantages of recent developments.
With my budget I am considering:
    Skywatcher AZEQ6 GT
    iOptron ieq45 Pro

Whilst there is plenty of usage information on the AZEQ6 (not all good) there is very little on the ieq45 pro. Info on the previous models of the ieq45 is fairly plentiful but very mixed. The current ieq45 pro seems to be an improvement on paper
but I cannot find any substantial info/reviews.
Does anyone on the forum have one and if so what are their experiences in use.
    Help would be appreciated.

  8. Just been outside as it's nice and clear but EQMOD would not connect.  Reason - Prolific driver not working. As I only installed Win10 this morning I assume it must be that.

Trying to find my way around System, Control Panel, Device Driver is a new experience, I,ve given up for tonight but it looks like help from Hitec astro may be needed .

Anyone else found this? Or anyone found EQMOD working OK with Win 10.

  9. Just found out that my Orrery was purchased from Sherwoods not FLO as I assumed. So apologies for starting the Hare running.

I am taking this up with Sherwoods and hope that I will get the same service from them that I would have had from FLO.

Of course the problem remains the same i.e., the kit was supplied - presumably from the manufacturers - with many missing parts.

  10. I received the ORRERY kit as a gift for Christmas. I have not looked at it until now but due to the shortages mentioned above, I had a quick look at mine. Regrettably I found that a number of parts are missing. Namely all the magnets, the moon and earth

spheres, some wood dowels and cardboard tubes. There may be more but that's as far as I got. I have not checked the "Bogens".

Disappointing, but I shall contact FLO when they return from the Hols.

  11. I had the same problem with a small pair of Practica Binos some years ago. It was caused by my keeping them in the car glove locker where they obviously suffered from heat. I was never able to completely get rid of the stickiness despite trying various methods of cleaning. I think that the heat changed the nature of the plastic/rubber coating, but good luck on your cleaning attempts.

  12. I am considering the above with a Feathertouch focuser in order to use my Atik 314L+ and EFW, but doubts have been expressed as to whether etc. this set up is a practical proposition. The doubt being using the filter wheel and getting the spacing correct etc.

If anyone has any experience of this set up or similar I would appreciate your comments.
