Looking like a lot of cloud bubbling up in the SE of England from about midnight onward which looks like it is going to obscure the moon completely....:(

      lol....

well that turned out to be a blinder of a night, totally enjoyed every minute of it, and if i got a half decent pic of it, bonus :D

  5. Hi Rob hope you have been well, im thinking of trying this as i have never tried imaging wide field on the HEQ5...... at first i was thinking of mounting scope, getting auto guiding running then slapping the DSLR on top of the scope rings and taking wide field like this, but a more easier method would be just to mount the DSLR on the HEQ5 with no scope but then id be limited to unguided subs, but a lot less effort setting up and carrying the scope and bits and pieces that go with it.....hmm next clear night i do want to try some widefield with the HEQ5 tho i know that
  6. grats to both of you! would you have a link where this competition is please
  7. totally stunning rob! really enjoyed that, how did you put it all together mate?
  8. looks like the 1st clear weekend in about 4 months for me, and ive got no work, might get the scope out as not had a chance since ive moved/work/weather, i know its a full moon and im imaging with a non modded dslr, but hey it dont have to be perfect to get me back into the swing of things lol :)

it was clear and stayed clear while we were there, although the moon and the light skies meant it wasn't perfect. We went down to get try out Stu's new ccd, i didn't take any of my kit with me

sounds a nice night, ah yes the moon would have still been a problem for Stu as he is not imaging in NB is he?

  9. , just got to work, got out the car and saw the biggest meteor burn up right over head, it was amazing, made me day haha, I was well surprised seeing such a big one with the full moon out, the moon is looking amazing too, really big and orange lol ☺

July 29 was the peak of one of the minor showers that according to Wiki has bright meteors, just not many even at the peak, actually very few. Will say that showers and peaks seem to mean little in terms of what I can observe.

  10. was some pretty amazing sprites going on in the sky last night!

Had to go in! The rain turned from a light shower to "you cant see your hand in front of your face" type rain... reminds me of the stuff you get in China/SE Asia.

sounds cool! not for imaging tho, it was very odd here is southampton, we has no thunder or rain all night....but the sky was constantly being lit up by what i think was high level sprites

  17. here is the progress with my M31 image one 10 min sub (no processing done) M31 (single RAW 10min sub - NO PROCESSING) by tingting44, on Flickr 1st captured night 1 data on the 21'st September 2014 which consisted of 25 subs giving me 4.16 hours on M31 here are a few version of night 1 data... M31 - WIP by tingting44, on Flickr M31 - Negative B&W - WIP by tingting44, on Flickr M31 (Pixinsight) by tingting44, on Flickr Then the next chance i got to grab night 2 data was 16'th Jan 2015! due to weather/work...... i managed to grab 19 more 10 min subs giving me another 3.16 hours of data, so in total of night 1 & 2 i now have a total of 7.32 hours on M31 Well here is the final image consisting of 7.32 hours of 10 min subs (44 subs), all images have dark/flat/bias calibration frames M31 - Finished by tingting44, on Flickr its been one of the hardest images to process to date, it was also my 1st time imaging an object over 1 night, the core is still a bit out of control but im happy with it for now, so now putting this away in my finished folder, till i add more data when it comes round again or till i get a CCD and try this target again also thought id show a quick process of trying to get a decent mask in Pixinsight to protect the background and stars, it was a right pig, lol jobs a goodun by tingting44, on Flickr The equipment used... Great stuff, Ting :-) Curiously, they don't celebrate April Fools until just after Christmas in Spain and it's not nearly so fun.

  20. Thanks mate yes its still visible, but only in the early evening, and its getting further away and a lot lower also, so far from ideal, this data i collected 10 weeks ago, only got round to processing it now, makes a "nice" change for me having back logged data lol
