  1. Thanks for your positive responses, Chefgage, will go down and try again. Do I need the cables in and the 64 gb usb that comes with it? Sorry but I'm looking for anything that I'm not doing right!! 🤨
  2. just had another go in my observatory and I have got the ASIAIR app which opens up until I get to where it asks to scan and doesn't find it. The wifi is good but doesn't recognize it. I've tried connecting via IP and I've even had airplane off and on. Wondering if my phone which is an Android Motorola is not up to it, it is about 3 years old!
  3. Out now picking grandchildren up so will try later, thanks
  4. Well, I am getting confused here cos I originally tried it at the bottom of my garden and didn't seem to get anywhere then so tried it up in the house earlier. I'm thinking that it relies on my home router but obviously got that wrong. Sheets anyway.
  5. Hi and welcome, great hobby, great forum!
  6. Hi all, Just got the ASIair pro bundle from FLO the other day and trying to connect up. Have read that wifi can be an issue and I find that in my setting on my phone it says that the ASIair is 'Connected, no Internet'. It could be that I'm doing something basically wrong as I'm doing this in the house where I've got internet everywhere! I have read about possibly needing a Vonets WiFi Extender but not sure if this will sort it. Btw, on the ASIair itself the power light is on and the wifi light is on but the card light is off, it goes on after initially putting the card in, not sure if that is ok, just looking for any issue I can spot. Hope someone can help out cos it's very frustrating at the mo! Cheers, John
  7. Well, I've gone and purchased the ASIair pro bundle from FLO - hope I've done the right thing. Do I need Skysafari plus or pro on my phone for ASIair pro to recognise it - I really am raw on this so excuse the basic questions!
  8. I've recently put Sky Safari on my phone after really good reviews and I've already got Stellarium on which I love, I've had Stellarium a few years now but I'm wondering if Sky Safari is better and it seems that you use it with ASIair which I'm going to get soon. Not sure now which is the preferred app to have or is it just a personal taste of which to have. Clear skies outside so going to do a bit of visual 👍
  9. Hi and welcome, so you have the ASIair pro, how do you find it, still chewing over getting one!
  10. I am also interested in getting the ASIair pro so I'm keeping an eye on this thread, obviously I can't comment about what it can or cannot do but it's serious money so need to make the right decision.
  11. Apologies for the error, I bought the dummy battery off Amazon and made sure that it was for my Canon 700d which i have used several times and works ok. I have returned the Dew Heater control and dslr charger because I am now about to purchase the ASIair. Meanwhile I have seen your reply regarding an 'On The Go' portable battery pack for dslrs and have purchased one so hopefully it will connect up. Thanks for the advice btw.
  12. Will the dummy battery from FLO fit the dedicated battery pack that you suggest do you know, if so I will get one, thanks for that.
  13. Well, I'm still debating over getting the ASIair but concerned that it won't be able to power my Canon 700d via a dummy battery. It seems that it requires a stepper cabling to get the voltage right. Does anyone know anything about this issue?
  14. I'm keeping an eye on this thread because I'm considering buying the ASIair pro and need as much info as possible as to how good it is!
  15. My camera is a Canon 700d modified, lens is a Canon 70-210 f4 but I'm now coupling it to a WO Megrez 72 with a Moonlite focusser fitted. I have the Star Adventurer which I've had about 10 years now but I think I've got PA issues. I use a Velbon tripod which is quite sturdy. I feel the wedge and ASIair Pro are going to improve my next imaging sessions. As I've said previously I am relatively new to this sort of imaging as in DSO - I've imaged conjunctions, eclipses etc, over the years so this is a whole new ball game to me, it's great to get info off this great forum though.
  16. I tend to think that appearance goes with quality most of the time, I've yet to see a shabby looking William Optics scope yet - I've got the Megrez 72 and it looks gorgeous so the wedge looks good and is good so the reports say. 👍
  17. Thanks, folks, for quick and informative replies. I'm going to purchase the wedge for my Star Adventurer for better pa and general usage! Which brings me onto my second query which is going for the ASIAIR pro, does it connect up to the Star Adventurer which has an auto guiding outlet on it, if it does then I will go for it! Cheers, anyway. John
  18. Thanks very much for that, yes please keep us informed👍
  19. Apologies for my math's, it should say £699. Wish I was right first time!
  20. Hi all, a bit of advice please. I am seriously considering purchasing the Asiair pro bundle that FLO have on their website at £510, but know very little about guiding and plate solving etc, also I am looking at the newish Wedge by William Optics for the Star Adventurer at £189 which seems to have very good ratings for improved performances, we are talking about £339 of equipment which is a lot of money - is it money worth spending! Any advise is welcome. Cheers, John
  21. Thanks for that, I will give it another go, finding that imaging is really challenging and still finding my way around Gimp. I have to have a session on visual observing occasionally to bring myself round a bit but that's the fun of astronomy, there's always something new, I am looking forward to the partial eclipse of the sun in June !!
  22. Hi and welcome to this brilliant forum. As the previous message has said there are loads of knowledgeable astronomers here with lots of information to give out so just ask!
  23. How do you find the ASAIR? I haven't got one but need some advice on it as to if it's worth the money etc, got similar equipment to you as well!
  24. Already had a go in Gimp, don't know if I can do any better🤨
  25. Sorry all, don't know why I've duplicated the image as it was the first attempt at putting an image on. I am pleased with it though! John
