Where is Dorset are you ?

Hey, Thanks for sharing this, very interesting article, and Stuart is a very interesting guy. Software looks very promising if they don't get sued, I think naming the software Suite and and logo to look like the Adobe suite will be the downfall though. Intellectual property law is pretty specific when it comes to protecting ( inventions, designs, brands, artwork and music ) any similarities of art or design are quickly dealt with. I will be keeping an eye on his page though, as i'm stuck on Mojave on my Mac, as I refuse to upgrade to the lates OS because my Adobe CS5 suite does not work the newer OS Many thanks.

On the look out for an AM5 ππ

Was out walking yesterday and spotted a Helios 8" telescope, on a heap of rubbish outside someones house, so I knocked on the door and asked if they were throwing it out. The lady said yes, as no one had ever used it and its just catching dust and rust, I asked if I could take it and she said yes. I promptly ran back to my friends car and we drove back and collected the scope, tripod and mount, On close examination it has never been used or even mounted on the tripod, the screws were all rusted and there was white emulsion all over the entire scope, (splashes and blobs of paint ) So I spent the most part of yesterday stripping down the the Mount, regressing and removing all the rust from the screws., same with the tripod. I then stripped down the OTA and blew out all the dust, cleaned the primary and secondary mirror, cleaned the finder scope, which is a good quality model , must be an upgrade, and the dovetail with is a bronze colour . All in all a good find, now donated to lovely family who will appreciate and use it to its full potential. Pics attached of the finished product. ( if you look closely you can still see some of the paint spots) Tried everything but still can't remove the paint.....

Meade LX200 12" GPS Software Help

Handset only stopped working after the update, and yes it was the dodgy Meade ASU updater π Thanks for the info Michael , will try USA Cloudy Nights. Pat -
Thanks in advance for any help. I put my Meade up for sale as it hasn't ben used in years, I then decided to reset the mount and update the firmware, unfortunately the firmware did not finish updating ( Windows Bootcamp on a Mac) Now the Hand control ( Brand New) does not come on when attached to the Mount and I am unable to reinstall the Firmware. I have followed most of the tutorials on the web, attaching the 505 cable to computer via the RS232 port, and running the firmware update through the autostart update. So far no joy in getting the firmware on, No display on the hand control so can't use that. I can control the Mount using RS232 port connected to the MAC using a virtual hand controller, can't remember the name off hand, so the mount works fine. Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome Taraobservatory, What part of Norway are you from, I spent many years and have many happy memories of Oslo. The skies in Norway are brilliant for star gazing, you are very fortunate.

M101 was my first and still my fav, ( maybe because it was my first ) π€ I was just about to give up deep sky malarky after spending so much money on kit and learning how to actually capture these images. Then I got this baby, one shot 30 sec expo from a light polluted back yard, that was it, was back down the rabbit hole.
