  1. Excellent shot. Closest to what I saw. Thank you for sharing this. Hope you don't mind but I've saved a copy of this to compare with my own notes and my sketch.
  2. Seen it too. Brighter than the nearby mag 5.7. Took a while to find hopping up from the narrow diagonal of Delphinus, but yep, it's there. Very excitable. Didn't expect to see a nova, like ever.
  3. One of those rolling bags for putting a set of golf clubs in. Quite reasonable from one of those discount golf places. Odd conversation when buying it though. http://astroukenaut.wordpress.com/2012/08/06/telescope-case/

  5. Thanks for the responses. Psychobilly, Are you an admin then? If I PM you can you sort for me? Ta.
  6. Any idea how or even if I can change my username on here? The one of using doesn't seem entirely relevant to me in this context. I'd have thought it would be in the area where I can edit my profile but can't see anything there.
  7. Disappointing. Could have been better. Seemed disjointed and shambolic. I got bored and started fiddling with my phone after about 40 mins. Hope it picks up though as there should be more of this kind of stuff on the TV.
  8. I just found a load of eBooks (in most formats) of the Yearbook of Astronomy from 1962 to 1979 (with some gaps) on the Internet Archive. I think they're legit as the Archive is usually a safe place for stuff that's gone public domain, out of copyright or open source. I guess as they're out of date their commercial worth has passed now. http://archive.org/search.php?query=title%3A%28Yearbook%20of%20Astronomy%29%20AND%20creator%3A%28Patrick%20Moore%29
  9. Had another go at stacking my avi this evening. Put it through photoshop to resize and resample, rotate 180 and increase contrast. Trying to pull out a bit more detail. Think this one looks better. Managed to get a glimpse of the great red spot at right edge of southern belt.
  10. Nice clear night. There was probably a lot to see but I didn't move the scope off Jupiter all evening. Tried an AVI with a hacked asdacam. I actually set Registax processing while I was out here in he garden and was a bit excited when this image materialised. First attempt at stacking. One thing I've noticed is that because it's a small image the quality varies hugely depending on the device you're viewing on. Things like my iPad resize it in Facebook to be a large picture for image. As a result it gets pixelly. Probably shouldn't have cropped it before uploading it. Anyway here it is for what it's worth.
  11. Nice. That's how Jupiter was looking for me this evening. Liked how Calisto was sitting just to the N. Did you manage to see Io transiting?
  12. This was an excellent programme. Did a great job explaining things. Wasn't patronising and didn't over simplify things. I think I leaned a lot from it. Several times I found myself listening to things I'd read about previously and going, "ah ok, now that makes sense when you put it like that."
  13. Great idea. Would love to get involved in something like this - Midlands area.
  14. Oh yeah, while we're playing this one. I got disturbed by footsteps and a burp from a couple of camels the other week. I wasn't at home in the garden though-I was camping in the desert in Oman. So I was less concerned about 10mins later by some grunting which turned out not to be camels but a couple in a nearby tent.
