  1. W&W Astro are on ebay as "Dewheater". They sell dew heater bands and cables. I have bought several heater bands from them. All have arrived quickly, worked perfectly and are very competitively priced. My latest purchase is a heater to wrap around the secondary mirror of my Newtonian scopes - it works a treat. It's good to see a small supplier entering the market and doing such a good job.
  2. I sent my Canon 1100D to Juan for removal of the IR filter. It was back with me in less than a week. It works a treat and Juan has done a very neat job. At a total cost of £93.50 (that's £84.75 to Juan plus £8.75 for my outbound postage), this is a real bargain. Top class service. When I have the cash to upgrade my camera I will be back for a nice new 600D.
  3. Mrs bought me a book, a couple of Christmases ago. So it's entirely her fault that half our bedroom is filled with astro kit
  4. My only complaint regarding the 130PDS is that the focuser extends a long way into the tube. I only need about 1cm of movement for my DSLR, and I use an extension tube for my eyepiece (to keep it parfocal with the camera) so I think I can afford to lose 2 or 3 cm from the inner end of the focuser tube. I might have a go at this next time I'm in a DIY frame of mind, and I might as well flock the scope at the same time. This is only a minor gripe, the 130PDS is still an excellent scope.
  5. There's a Flickr set here http://www.flickr.com/photos/porkyb/sets/72157642146782723/ My favourite (today anyway) is this one M50 open cluster by porkyb, on Flickr
