  1. A little less wind than last year would be preferable too.
  2. Here's my DL 14" F4.6 with Hubble Optics @Piero. It's fabulous. You won't be disappointed I assure you. Ally
  3. Hi fella That looks amazing Pete, really tidy job. Would you say your design is lighter than the David Lukehurst equivalent, if so by how much ? My 14" DL weighs roughly 34kg.
  4. It's a 14" F4.6 with Hubble Optics 1/14th wave mirrors.
  5. I spent nearly 6 hours with my 14" DL dob at my dark site on Friday night. It blew my mind. I've owned 12" dobs in the past, not a lot of difference between 12 & 14 but the optics in my DL simply destroyed all previous experiences. I'm very interested in your specification requirements. David is a great bloke, you won't be disappointed. Al
  6. I can concur with @scarp15, my 14" Hubble mirror cools pretty quickly. 30 minutes max and I'm at the eyepiece searching for fuzzies.
  7. Hi Piero I can heartily vouch for a Lukehurst truss dob. David built one for me last year. A 14" 1/14th wave with Hubble Optics. It holds collimation exceptionally well even after dismantling, a trip in the car and reassembly. The views are magnificent when conditions allow. Happy hunting. Ally
  8. Est 20.72 Bortle 4 at home. Back in November I spent a week in 21.95 Bortle 2 skies in NW Scotland.....it was magnificent.
  9. Great minds think alike Ade mate ? Or is it. ...fools seldom differ ? Debatable ?
  10. Let's say your focuser resembles this one. As you look down on it there is a screw at 12 o'clock and one at 8. Fit the HGP so that the gold screw is at 4. At least, that's how I understand it.
  11. Make sure the gold screw is directly opposite the screw that holds your Parralizer in place in the focuser.
  12. Your 2" focuser has a screw that holds your eyepiece in. It may even have two. All the instructions are asking is that you put the HGP so that ITS eyepiece fixing screw is directly opposite the original focuser eyepiece screw. That's probably as clear as mud ?
  13. That is stunning. What make is it and what size ?
  14. You're correct in that assumption @Davey-T, got four days booked for SGLSP ??
  15. I've had my Lukehurst dob a little over a month now and have used it precisely zero times due to work commitments and booked social events. Until tonight. Tonight is when I discover I probably require better quality eyepieces and possibly a coma corrector due to the shorter focal length of F4.62 ....oh dear.....swmbo won't be happy ?. I know I need to invest in a shroud, and a 12v supply for the secondary heater. Very looking forward to first light. Report to follow. Ally
  16. I've got two spare tickets, one curry one hog roast. Kingfisher 16. Any offer accepted ?
  17. Oooh LOVE banana bread ?
  18. I'll bring the JAFFAS ??
