  1. Not looking good here, sunny earlier now clouds. Dave
  2. Hi and welcome to SGL. Telescopes don't zoom as such all they do is capture light, the bigger the aperture the more light they capture which can be magnified using various eyepieces of different magnification. There is a limit to how much magnification can be achieved but not something to worry about at this stage. Are you thinking of finding targets in the sky manually or having some sort of electronically controlled mount called a GoTo ? this can make a considerable hole in your budget. Dave
  3. I use my ancient MBP 2013 running Firecapture and Windows in a Bootcamp partition with ASI178MM capturing to external USB3 drive, runs at 30 /40 fps on full disc with Lunt LS60. Dave
  4. You can see it on GONG looks like it came from the AR that's just round the limb. Dave
  5. I use Vdub to sort through videos and delete bits when they're so bad AS3 wont stack them Dave
  6. Yes, bit of a backward step, guess it makes them cheaper to manufacture. Really nice focuser so worth looking out for a second hand older version Dave
  7. There are at least two others. Dave
  8. Gonna need a bigger boat 😄 Dave
  9. Got a solar transit close by later today but got to go visit wife in hospital shortly. Dave
  10. Nice one Steve, got the app to show when its visible here but still haven't succeeded. Dave
  11. As above just fixed with grub screws, quite cheap, pack of three £8.00. I've never achieved perfect focus with the front focuser, it's easier to do it with the parfocal ring once the front gets it nearly right. Dave
  12. Here's how mine is set up. I use a parfocal ring so that the camera fits in the same position every time, then focus using the ring at the front Dave Parfocal ring Camera inserted to ring Focuser at front
  13. Bit of a failure today, second time I've forgotten to take flats to try and remove Newton rings, seeing not great, only managed to save one video. Dave
  14. Good stuff David, took a couple of vid's between the clouds this morning but not had time to look at them yet. Dave
  15. Hope mine come out as good, waiting for a hole in the clouds. Note to self must remember to take flats this time. Dave
  16. I had a similar problem with my first Star Adventurer. This is two shots of Cappella 30 seconds apart showing how far the tracking was out made into a GIF. Dave
  17. Very nice Bob, didn't a chance to look at it today. Dave
  18. I've got a WOZ61 on mine as shown, I reverse the foot to help balance. You can loosen the RA clutch and the knob under the camera to rotate it any direction. Dave
  19. Hi and welcome to SGL. It's the mount that's aligned to Polaris with the polar scope, the telescope can be aimed anywhere. Dave
  20. Hoping to see it shortly once it drags itself clear of the LP. Dave
  21. Very nice Gav, spent all day tarting up the old camper van so no time for solar, who knows might even get to go to star parties in it again one day. Dave
