    Star Party 2022

Are there any plans in the pipe line to hold SGL star parties in the future? Just asking as they used to be such an important event in my Astronomy year, and miss seeing so many people from all over the UK who used to attend these events in the past decade and a half! Cheers, Justyn
  8. I hope everyone who left today got home safely. A big thanks to the Dob Mob for keeping everyone's spirits up in the rain, and for finding the source of the squeak in my car's suspension! Just a few of us left here tonight, I leave on Tuesday. The owner of the site told me how to turn off the light that shines up the tree near the entrance to The Oaks, there is an EHU station by the small wall next to it. (see photo). He is more than happy for us to switch it off when we are there and just asks that we switch it back on when we leave. What a great guy!!!!!!! Really nice to have met Martin and Clive as well. A big Thanks to Tony (Freff) for organising.
  9. I have got the original prototype which is more engineered that the production models. I ordered one from Altair Astro when they were first advertised. I waited for ages due to problems with the production process. After a few months of waiting, they sent me the prototype and said that I could keep it if I like it. Most of my astronomy friends call it 'the lunar lander'. I agree, it is a great piece of kit.
  10. I am all ready to go, Got here at 2pm and have just finished setting up.
  11. It will be great to see and have a few beers with the DOBMOD again. Go easy on the the chilli this time boys!!!!!!!
  12. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-62662685 I found this article and it's images interesting.
  13. Well she was in the audience at the start of the program when the pictures were first revealed.
  14. This months episode to called 'The James Webb Road Trip'. It is on at 10.00pm BBC4 on Monday 15th. Should be good!
  15. What a great episode of the S@N, so many subjects covered by a truly fascinating and brilliant man. The way he managed to put every topic he mentioned was put into context/perspective to the wider view of science showed an impressive command of communication skills. One of the best episodes have ever seen. I particularly liked that when ever Lord Rees and Chris started talking about a particular complex subject (eg Gravitational Waves etc), this was followed by and explanation by Maggie for those not familiar with the subject. Well done to the BBC.
  16. The next episode of the S@N titled ' The Astronomer Royal at 80' is being broadcast at 10.00pm on Monday 13th June on BBC4.
