    Skylight 100mm F13

    From the album: Scopes

Just received...a Skylight 100mm F13 from Richard Day, featuring a Carton F13 objective...can't wait to get this out for a first light!
  2. Nice report Qualia and lovely sketches. I really must try these, assuming I ever get a night when the weather plays ball...and I don't get distracted by Andromeda and Jupiter every time I get out ;).
  3. Clouded over - calling it a night!

Ay, I can appreciate your sentiment, mark. Here it's not so much the weather that is crippling but a herd of other compromises that just ruin a night's gazing.

  8. Urghh - just got home after a 500 mile drive, and now too tired to observe - bet its cloudy tomorrow!

Last night my wife and I were out at dance practice - currently trying to learn Ballroom & Latin! Came home at a little after 22:00 after 2 1/2 hours of practice to see the moon rising low over the houses and a perfectly clear sky, with what looked like excellent seeing. Equally too tired to set up the scope to do some observing!

Clouds are already rolling in this afternoon, ready for the rain showers tonight!

"Big Sister" cooling down, 14th September 2012. Trying out the pillar extention on the eq5 mount for the first time.
  10. Clearly the bbc have a different understanding of what constitutes a clear sky....one with cloud for a start :(. Grrr!

      Marki

One possible. Gave up after a bit as it was pretty hazy/cloudy.

  14. Excellent thought provoking stuff as ever, Qualia - have a great break and I hope to have seen some of these things by the time you get back! Either that or I'll have become even more familir with the undersides of clouds than I am already! By the way, how are you recording and representing the colours here?
  15. Must have offended the gods of astronomy - gonna be cloudy tonight again, on a night when I can actually stay up late for a change :(

Saturday night is the only day I can stay up really really late. So therefore it's the one day of the week that the clouds take over!

  16. Got woken up at 4am for some reason this morning -peered out of window and was gobsmacked by how brilliantly bright Venus was, hangin low in the eastern sky. Totally awesome!

I think this prolonged activity of cloud cover comes with buying such a rare and lovely telescope, Mark. You're only to blame :-)

  19. Cloudy :(. Forecast looks promising for Fri/Sat though...can't wait to get the scope again :)

  21. An excellent report as ever, Qualia. I really like the Struve pair as well - thanks for pointing that out; I'll have a look for this as soon as the weather permits.
