  1. Scope set-up, aligned and now tracking Castor to test my az-eq6. Skies is murky though - orange up to about 45 degrees - not a DSO evening I think.

  2. Weather forcasting? Cutting edge of science or fatuous waste of time? Discuss!

Not much cop is it.. I walked out to a clear sky and managed a whole fifteen minutes. I suppose I should be dancing with joy..:)

      nightfisher

    1. nightfisher

      nightfisher

Yep, looked out and clear, set up the f16.5 on AZ4 but the wind was buffeting it

Nope :(. All these telescope sales that Stagazing Live will generate are gonna kill the weather for months ;)

Been clear here all day and I was just thinking I'll get the scope out and that's all it was.

  12. Getting darker - getting closer to home time - sunny all day - where the heck did all these clouds come from!

  13. Cold out there...trying to get the motivation going to get out and stay out! Again!

Don't force yourself, Mark. There's time to do things and there are times when it just don't feel right to be doing those things, so I figure it just ain't worth it.

Mmm - could work, eyepieces in the paniers, tube strapped across my back...red lights at the rear...but how to carry the mount?

Temps have risen again here. Today was around 30º and then evening really hasn't droppe dthat much.

  21. Gah! In the three mins its taken me to set up, its misted over here in York! Unbelievable!

  22. Sunny all day...scope cooling....cloud rolling in! An astronomer's lot is not a happy one!

    1. Qualia

      Qualia

Ay, I can appreciate your sentiment, mark. Here it's not so much the weather that is crippling but a herd of other compromises that just ruin a night's gazing.

  23. Urghh - just got home after a 500 mile drive, and now too tired to observe - bet its cloudy tomorrow!

    1. nightfisher

      nightfisher

Marki, you should have nailed a few hours sleep and got up about 5am for some lunar/ planetary, with orion added in the plot for a bonus

Last night my wife and I were out at dance practice - currently trying to learn Ballroom & Latin! Came home at a little after 22:00 after 2 1/2 hours of practice to see the moon rising low over the houses and a perfectly clear sky, with what looked like excellent seeing. Equally too tired to set up the scope to do some observing!

Clouds are already rolling in this afternoon, ready for the rain showers tonight!

  24. Clearly the bbc have a different understanding of what constitutes a clear sky....one with cloud for a start :(. Grrr!

    1. nightfisher

      nightfisher

Yes i had this very issue last night

  25. TAL100RS mounted and cooling down...fingers crossed :)

    1. nightfisher

      nightfisher

my tal 80rs will be out shortly if the moon clears the trees

    2. Marki

      Marki

Same problem here...moon just below the neighbours trees....and the sky looks good tonight :) Clear skies Jules!

    3. Qualia

      Qualia

we've got the set out tonight. The Tal 100rs is out already, with a big fat moon. Clear skies to you two.
