  1. Hi, was watching the Simpsons on C4 the other day and Bart was using a reflector style scope in a bedroom and the scope was mounted back to front with the eyepiece at the backend of the scope. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. Planning to go to NLO tonight for the first time in ages as I have Saturday off, is it worth putting my scope in the car? It's cloudy down here in Newton Abbot Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  3. I have the single drive motor for the eq5 and I wouldn't be without it, I use it with battery power and with a power supply (not at the same time) the battery's last for quite a while, think i still using the original ones when i got the motor, always advisable to have a spare set at the ready tho. 6. Hi all, I just posted a topic in the Devon and Cornwall section about a Meteor creating a sonic boom which I heard at around 4.15pm thursday 18-10-2012 just interested how far and wide this was heard.
  7. Hi all, on Thursday 18-10-2012 at about 4.15pm I heard what i can only discribe as a loud bang and windows rattled and a internal door opened, just like when Concorde first flew. It is now reported that this was caused by a Meteor entering our atmosphere http://www.bbc.co.uk...ngland-20000877 Who else heard this event?
  8. Lol I wondered what the small black rubber and thing was for Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  9. Hi Danny, I did this course earlier in the year, you will enjoy it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  10. RIP Neil, look up at the moon and wink
  11. ok, just a quick update, I bought a 2nd hand pair of Zenith 10x50 5° binoculars at the SW Astro fair at NLO on saturday for £10. They are so much better than my Miranda 10x50 (which suffer from fungi) had quick look through them last night, managed to a few stars in between the clouds, might have seen M31 but with so much cloud cover it was hard to see any constellations. Thats saved me some money which I can now put towards upgrading my 130 scope to a 200pds from FLO :-)
  12. Had quite a light show here, but not quite the one I wanted, we had thunderstorm and showers move across from France to Devon soon as it got dark :-( Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  13. Thanks for your replies, I think I'm leaning towards the marine 10x50s or the 15x70s From strathspeys Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  14. Hi, it's nearly that time of year again, my birthday, I'm looking to get myself a bino to go with my scope, I'm looking at something like a 10x50 in a top price range of £100 or there abouts depending on if I get any extra money for birthday. Need some advice on which one to get, have seen the marine bino from strathspeys and the various ones at FLO, which are the best one to get? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  15. I saw 4 meteors over a 1-2 hr period from 12-2am tuesday morning, 3 coming from cassiopeia and one coming southeastern direction going across Aquarius now i think about it. 3 of the 4 I saw were brighter than the normal ones u see.
