  2. Imaged on 11-01-22 I had lots of problems that night getting everything going but managed to get four and a half hours in the end but no calibration frames.

    This is a SHO image

  3. I imaged this target on Wednesday night having a bit of a experiment with exposures in narrow band in the past with my ccd camera ( QHY9m ) I needed 15 or 20 minute subs so with my new CMOS camera a QHY294m pro  I first tried a run of 10 x 180 in each filter then a run of 600 sec subs I think I need at least 10 minute subs anyway I have combined all the data to give a Hubble palette image.

    Ha 10 x 180  +  8 x 600   Olll  10 x 180 + 8 x 600   Sll  10 x 180 = 8 x 600

  4. This is my first light with my QHY294m pro at 1 x 1  ( 47 mp )   imaged on 30-10-2021 colour processed in PS I am going to try colour masking in pixinsight to see what the difference is if I can.

  5. I had first light last night with my new QHY294M camera and collected LRGB data but when I tried to stack align etc in Image Plus which I have used for other older QHY cameras for years it couldn’t manage to go through with the data as these image files are a lot larger I was thinking this could be the problem has anyone any advice ?

    RGB of 7 x 300 each

    all binned 2 x 2

  7. Thanks for that Chris I thought I had missed something with the mirror lock I have been imaging with mine for about eleven years now and it is a struggle at times to keep focus but I now watch all the subs coming in and if the stars seem to go out of focus I do a refocus. Where as I have another set up with a 500 mm FL refractor on a

equatorial Mount and it just runs all night with no need to refocus. But for all the problems with long focal length imaging I do like to have a go at the tiny targets.

  8. Thanks Chris for your feed back. I have found in the past that the blue is usually the one with a problem with the Celestron  it just seems to effect the brighter stars. You said that your mirror was able to be locked I thought only the Meade scopes had this facility I would be interested to know how you did it was it a DIY job ? I have imaged at F 10 for a few years now but it is difficult to get he right conditions in the UK that is why at Focal lengths of 1764 mm and 2800 mm with the 11” I now bin all my subs 2 x 2 which seems okay for me.

  9. Thanks Chris I suspect the touch of blue at the top of the stars was maybe slightly out of focus blue data when processing the RGB I did think I should have refocused in some positions of the sky with the SCT the main mirror does move  during imaging. I was imaging another target last night and I did refocus and those stars were a lot better so maybe that was my problem ?

  10. Thanks for the reply. I have never had an issue with PHD1 but like you have said maybe I should move up to PHD2 I think I will set it up as there is no imaging possible at the moment and see how it goes.

  11. I was thinking of buying the QHY294m-Pro camera at the moment I use a QHY9 and use Nebulosity for image capture along with PHD 1. The question I need answered before I buy the new camera is could I use Nebulosity and PHD 1 for imaging I have had years of using Nebulosity and PHD 1 with no problems and am a bit reluctant to change to say NINA and PHD 2 as if it’s “ not broke then don’t fix it “ has anyone any advice ?

  12. Thanks for the comments Francis and Gerr  I tried imaging this target the week before but had poor skies and only managed to get 5 x 300 subs after a quick process it didn’t look a very impressive target but it was in a good position so I thought I would give it another go this week and found it to be a good face on Spiral galaxy. After I got my LRGB data and processed it I could see what I thought maybe it could benefit from some Ha data that’s why I have attached both images with hindsight I think I should have toned down the Ha content a bit.

  13. On the 14th of this month I went for a Spiral galaxy not often imaged NGC 3631 in Ursa Major and got Luminance of  8 x 300 and 10 x 600 and RGB of 5 x 300 each  all binned 2 x 2 . I checked this one out and it said there was some Ha in the spiral arms so on the 16th I got Ha of 5 x 600 and 9 x 900  binned 2 x 2.  I used my Celestron 11" scope at F 6.3 and my QHY9m camera. I have included both the LRGB and the HaLRGB images.

  14. Thanks Wim, I did want to get more data on this target as like you said when I looked at the first sub NGC 2805 hardly showed up but when the subs were stacked I was surprised how well the galaxy came out I hope you manage to get your data soon.
