  1. I am new to this sort of imaging. To get more crisp images is it the seeing or the camera that are holding me back?
  2. Captured today with ED 80,Quark,Asi 120mm
  3. After having just bought a second hand Quark here on the Forum I have just taken my first image of the Sun. I have alot of banding which I beleive can be avoided by using a tilt adjuster.
  4. I have given up on the pxp model as I have quite alot of cone error. I just do a blind solve and offset init before I start imaging and get good results.
  5. double check that you have no cables snagging when slewing
  6. When doing the "offset init" remember to make sure that you tick the correct box "west or East" depending on where your counter weight is.
  7. go to C:\ProgramData\SiTech\SiTechExe and eliminate all pxp files and files for a new clean new model and park position. point the scope in the general direction of the position of a known star (even in daylight) and then perform an "offset init" Stop the scope and then move it with the hand controller to where you want it to be parked and then save this position. The scope should recognise that it is above the horizon and the new park position.
  8. I use a Wifi dongle attached to my Servocat and Argonavis. I use an 8" Samsung tablet and also my Edge 7 phone. Once I managed to configure the visual display information setting to my liking I find the phone to be just as good.
  9. THat`'s a nice field of view and really crisp. Great image!
  10. Hooke a true all rounder who deserved much more recognition .
  11. Zes both the Paracorrs increase the fl by 15% Paracorr 1 setting for an ES 30 82 degree eyepiece is 1.7 ie closer to 2 then to 1. If zou have a known ezepiece setting zou put that ezepiece in the paracorr at the correct setting and then focus with the focuser knob. All other ezepieces go into the paracorr after this and are only focused with the paracorr compression ring. Which ES ezepieces do you have?
  12. Great looking scopes guys! I am new to the Dob scene after finishing my 16" 1760. Telekit with John Nichols mirrors and Hi lux coatings I use a Parcorr and skycommander.
  13. Congratulations on a magnificent project and build. I suspect that their is a logical explanation. Whenever the delivery time is delayed a company that is honest and explains the reasons for a delay will keep the respect from the client. Ignoring the client and problem and just delivering when the delay is sorted out will damage the respect. Either way the delay will not go away so why not just chose the first option. I am sure that you will receive a magnificent mirror nevertheless. I have a similar scenario with my secondary mirror holder ( Hasta Manana sindrome)But at least I am getting updates.
  14. How about paying an extra couple of hundred quid for the seller to make sure or adjust the optics before shipping?
  15. This image makes you want to zoom in and have a wander around. One of the consequences of imaging single objects is that we tend to relate to the sky as single objects. Olly's and Tom's masterpiece shows us many of our single objects as a whole and help put the sky into perspective. I would love this image as a 4x3 meter print on a wall. A bow and a salute of appreciation from me and also respect for the many hours of work that it must have taken to undergo such a task.

    My Observatory

In October 2013 I spent a week building my Observatory. As I live at altitude I wanted a warm room near the scope. I therefore decided to build a run off shed style observatory.
