When this happens to me I send them a friendly reminder in case they didn’t get the first message. Find it’s best to post that you have sent a PM on the sale thread as well as sending a PM. If no reply then I probably wouldn't bother replying to any other thing they put up for sale later on.

Lunt 50PT Ha o-rings / pressure tuning

FLO sent me a a couple a while ago so worth asking them. -
https://www.britastro.org/dark-skies/cfds_issues.php?topic=crime A good source of info is police crime statistics. There is this old very in depth (67 pages) study that showed no real difference. https://www.celfosc.org/biblio/seguridad/atkins.pdf

it’s common knowledge that reducing lighting reduces crime and increasing lighting increases crime. There have been plenty of studies that prove it. Unfortunately many automatically assume the opposite and politicians pander to this public misconception rather than putting them straight although probably many if not most politicians also have this misconception. Hmmm, perhaps someone who has been burgled needs to sue a council that has increased lighting for damages. Think that’s the only way councils will take notice.

The typical bulk bag is 800kg to 1000kg. When I had to pour a large concrete base found it was easier to just order 25kg bags from an online supplier. Also makes it easier to carry the bags round to where you will be using them rather than having to shovel stone into a wheelbarrow to move it.

Yes we’re paying more per unit for the energy used but using less of it.

Actually no. “Since the turn of the millennium the UK’s energy consumption has been dropping steadily, despite a growing population and economy. It has fallen by almost 10 per cent in the past decade. Since 2010 alone, it has seen a drop in electricity use equivalent to two-and-a-half times the output of the Hinkley Point nuclear plant. A move away from manufacturing and the high proportion of homes that use gas for heating and cooking are thought to be primary drivers of the decline, but individual actions such as increasing house insulation, more efficient appliances and LED lights etc.are playing a part. British households today, however, have similar or lower total energy costs than they had 10 years ago on average.“

The fatal error in your letter is it is intended for those with intelligence and common sense not councillors. Pitch your letter at the average rwo year olds level of comprehension and it might have a chance. 🙄

The combination of offshore wind farms and solar and biomass plants and the closing down of coal fired plants as well as a drop in demand have all contributed to to the UK getting more power from renewables than fossil fuels for the first time.

Sometimes it seems that Councillors use a different form of logic to the rest of us and don’t care about saving money. 🙄 BTW renewable energy has now overtaken fossil fuels as a source of energy in the UK.

Will be interested in how you get on with the Nexus II. Astrodevices says it should work. “All of our Nexus (Nexus DSC, Nexus-II and Nexus) devices will work with encoders installed in AZ100.”

Illuminated centering eyepiece recommendations?
johninderby replied to JeremyS's topic in Discussions - Eyepieces
Tal made one. sometimes one will turn up second hand. Fits most 25mm eyepieces. Screws into the filter thread on the nosepiece. I have tested it on a few eyepieces and most 23mm to 26mm plossl types will work. http://ensoptical.co.uk/tal-screw-in-cross-hair-eyepiece -
Illuminated centering eyepiece recommendations?

This wide angle 2” one would work, but at a price. https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p966_TS-Optics-Reticle-Eyepiece-32-mm-70----2--barrel-size---illuminable.html -
Bought my Ryobi cordless SDS drill a few years ago. Will handle a decent sized drill bit unlike many cordless SDS drills. Already had Ryobi batteries and charger so made sense to stick with Ryobi. Doesn’t get used a lot but but certainly a very useful tool to have around.

FLO advises having the encoders fitted by them or Rowan although they will be offering them as a DIY upgrade later on. I suppose shipping the mount back to have the encoders fitted wouldn’t be a big problem. 🤔
-
Yes all these terrible companies bringing out new desireable bits of kit. 😂😂😂 Don’t want the DSC at the moment but wondering if I should get the encoders fitted with the mount so it will be easy to add the DSC later on if I want to.. 🤔
-
Intesting idea but slo mo controls are a must. Giro already have that part of the market covered with mounts without slo mo controls.

Fresh concrete isn’t that hard to drill. The concrete gets harder as it gets older. Try drilling 50 year old concrtete sometime. 🤬 I use my cordless SDS drill and it makes a huge difference over trying to use a standard drill even if it has hammer action. Adding fibres isn’t needed for strength in your case but a good idea as it stops the concrete from cracking which can happen with a large block of concrete. And it’s cheap.

Probably easier to just buy a new one and sell the old one if it’s in reasonable condition. However if you want to shorten yours a junior hacksaw is all you need and will make a neater cut than a regular full size hacksaw. A black permanent marker will colour the cut end nicely. https://www.screwfix.com/p/magnusson-junior-hacksaw-6/6187v

New focuser for Meade 127

It’S a 100mm f/13 using Japanese Carton optics. Gives better planetary views than a FPL53 100mm triplet APO. The optics were made in the days when good achromats were finished to the highest standards. Nowadays you only see cheap achros and the manufactures don’t spend the time or money on them. -
I would add fibres to the concrete mix as it reduces cracking and makes for a stronger base. https://www.toolstation.com/bostik-fibres-for-concrete/p27616?utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&gclid=Cj0KCQjwr-_tBRCMARIsAN413WTa443Y84cYZJuTl2jbB9aYXtBmzU0ASStCfYKwx2NWChYQCmQtS7caAqvcEALw_wcB Have you considered one of the companies that deliver small quantities of concrete for DIY projects? Should be a company like this in your area. https://maximinimix.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyoDbx7bJ5QIVFuDtCh2TaQq8EAAYAyAAEgL0afD_BwE
