  1. I see StellariumScope use JNow epoch - what about Stellarium?
  2. Please check Stellarium 0.90.0.9749
  3. OK, I've found where is I made misprint. The fix will be available for testing in next beta (I guess tomorrow).
  4. I'm sorry, but apparently I don't understand your problem.
  5. Yes, you can install it in separate directory.
  6. Why you do not use official stellarium.org website?
  7. Could you say what is confusing you? Maybe I can explain it?
  8. @cuivenion, @Dave In Vermont, please check version 0.90.0.9740...
  9. @cuivenion aha! I see now what you meant!
  10. See Wikipedia as start point: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absolute_magnitude
  11. It's correct definition for stars, but for planets use different definition of absolute magnitude (brightness of body at distance of 1 AU from the Sun).
  12. It's correct value. We cannot "resolve 4K" issues, because developers doesn't have 4K devices.
  13. @cuivenion please show config.ini and screenshots
  14. cuivenion, could you deinstall version 0.15.2 before install version 0.16.0?
  15. Today Stellarium's development team published version 0.90.0.9732 with support of outlines for deep-sky objects. We use the compatible with SkyChart (Cartes du Ciel) format of file for storing an outlines data for deep-sky objects. For example the outline for M42 is represented by this lines: 05.56401 -05.49880 start M 42 05.56759 -05.39201 vertex 05.56635 -05.31749 vertex 05.57158 -05.21922 vertex 05.57601 -05.21716 vertex 05.58830 -05.30164 vertex 05.59140 -05.34341 vertex 05.59028 -05.37076 vertex 05.59008 -05.38175 vertex 05.59581 -05.37159 vertex 05.59943 -05.47123 vertex 05.59912 -05.65838 vertex 05.59520 -05.73212 vertex 05.58490 -05.68102 vertex 05.56948 -05.57675 end First column is right ascension in decimal hours, the second column is declination in decimal degrees and third column is command (start, vertex, end). The command 'start' has name of DSO also. Our outlines.dat file was partially got from CdC/SkyChart. Now we want to get a volunteers, who can help us create a good outlines for big deep-sky objects for two projects - Stellarium and Cartes du Ciel/SkyChart.

  17. Hello all! Some time ago I've added into Stellarium few catalogs with deep-sky objects and many users like it. Currently we (Stellarium's developers) planning list of features for implementation on different perspectives (far-, middle- and short time perspectives). One of directions of develop the planetarium is works with various catalogs (star and non-star objects). This is reason for my question for you: which catalogues of DSO you are using frequently? Any comments, notes and proposals for catalogues welcome!
  18. Please check it in next beta (v0.90.0.9620).
  19. Stellarium 0.16.0 is a stable version (based on Qt5.6 but it can still be built from sources with Qt5.4) that introduces some new features and closes 38 bug and wishlist reports. New features include - RemoteSync plugin, which allows running several connected instances of Stellarium. - Non-spherical models for solar system objects like asteroids and small moons. - Solar system config file is now split into two parts. - AstroCalc feature extension: What's Up Tonight, graphs, ... - DSO: Addition of catalogs of peculiar galaxies and planetary nebulae (standard edition of catalog contains over 83,000 objecs; extended edition of catalog contains over million objects) - New Skycultures: Belarusian, Hawaiian Star Lines - Telescope plugin: support for the RTS2 telescope system. - Location can now be read from a GPS device. A huge thanks to the people who helped us a lot by reporting bugs! Full list of changes: https://launchpad.net/stellarium/0.16/0.16.0
  20. Stellarium 0.16.0RC2 has been published...
  21. We plan to release Stellarium 0.16.0 around June 21 (at the moment first release candidate was published for the testing of planetarium and translations checking). This will an another major release with fixes of bugs and a few new important features - another one step to version 1.0. This version has many changes in the GUI and we added many new lines for translation. If you can assist with translation to any of the 140 languages which Stellarium supports, please go to Launchpad Translations and help us out: https://translations.launchpad.net/stellarium If you can help translate description of sky cultures and landscapes on your language then we would be grateful to you for this. You need a create your branch, add 'description.YOUR-LANG-CODE.utf8' files from description.en.utf8 and translate it! You can send translated description.YOUR-LANG-CODE.utf8 files to me for adding in Stellarium also. Binary packages for Windows/macOS and full list of changes you can find here: https://launchpad.net/stellarium/trunk/0.90.0 Thank you!
  22. A fresh beta (v0.90.0.9495) has changes and optimizations for DSO stuff
