  1. In my view refractors probably are best for splitting doubles. In your top category, my current main scope is amazing with doubles and manages mediocre seeing very well allowing splits down to 1 arc second. If you can afford one a TEC140 is hard to beat.
  2. Just a couple from me to add. Just as good as yesterday but a bit too tired today to make a night of it. Remains an awesome sight!!
  3. Hello, whilst I was waiting the Comet Neowise, I images Jupiter, Saturn and Mars last night with my C9.25 and Canon 70D with EOS movie record. Stacked in Autostakkert and gentle wavelets in Registax. Thanks for looking,
  4. Amazing night with great views of the comet. Even got my wife out of bed at 3am!! Here is my picture from NE London.
  5. Great image. Almost identical to the view in my 8x42s!
  6. Set my alarm to see if I could catch Comet Neowise I the dawn sky. Just caught it and am strangely emotional. Bright around 1st magnitude with what looks like a double tail very low in the NE. Fabulous view with 8x42 Bins. Should be amazing as it moves into the evening sky next weekend. If you have a good NE horizon worth setting your alarm to catch it in the morning
  7. As a bit of an experiment this week I had a go at Deep Sky imaging with my C9.25 at F10 with my modified Canon 600D. Thought I would use the focal length to get some image scale on a couple of small targets, the Ring and Cat's Eye Nebulas. Both were lots of short exposures, the Ring was 90 minutes of 25 second exposures at ISO1600 and the Cat's Eye was 90 minutes of 15 second exposures at ISO800. Both were stacked using Sequator and tweaked with Microsoft Photos. Happy with the results and will look to try the C9.25 on some other small targets in future. Thanks for looking. Cat's Eye Nebula Ring Nebula
  8. Probably my last Venus of the season as it will soon be lost behind the roof of my house. Lovely crescent showing now. Taken with Canon 70D with 2x teleconverter through a TEC140. Captured with EOS movie record and processed in Autostakkert. Thanks for looking
  9. Did some imaging with my TEC140 for the first time last night. I have had the TEC for nearly 3 years but previously only used my 66mm and 80mm for imaging so a big step up in focal length for me. Each are about an hour of data (90 second exposures) taken from East London, stacked in Sequator and processed with Microsoft Photos. Quite pleased with the results. M5 Black Eye Galaxy
  10. Had a first go at imaging Venus this evening. Used my Canon 70D to capture with EOS movie record and stacked and processed with Registax. Telescope is a TEC140 with 2x barlow on an AZ-EQ6. Showing the crescent phase nicely but not sure whether I have got any hints of clouds though. Pretty happy for a first go. Venus AS stack.tif
  11. I know what you mean, I am terrible at sticking to just one target! It is very rare I ever manage more than 2 hours on a single target. Will try to be more patient next time we get a clear moon free night and go for at least 3 hours on a single object. With stretching the pictures always end up a bit grainy which I mostly put down to the heavy light pollution (bortle 8/9) but I know more time would help too. Please with these though as they are the first images I have taken through a telescope for 2 and a half years. I have only been doing widefields for the last few years (mostly 135mm focal length at most) so temptation to do a few targets was too great! Thanks for the comments Jonathan
  12. Just starting to get back into Deep Sky imaging after a gap of only doing very widefield imaging with Camera lenses. These 3 are from last night. Each have around 30-40 2 minute exposures at ISO 800 using a modified canon 1000D DSLR and William Optics 66 with 0.8 reducer/flattener. Unguided images using a Skywatcher AZ-EQ6 mount. Pretty happy with these as I image from very light polluted NE London Skies so a CLS filter was a must. Thanks for looking
