  1. Thanks Both. Removed the drive from the mount this morning and measured the diameter of the spindle on the drive and the worm. Reckon one of these should do the trick. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09138PZPR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And at £6 it's no great loss if it doesn't.
  2. Thanks for that Rusted. Have to admit I had not really looked very hard other than finding the CG-4 is not made any more.
  3. Tried to get a session in today, not very successful. After the rain cleared the skies did too, setup the AR102 and grabbed a white light full disk. Got setup for Calcium and the laptop battery died! Grabbed an extension lead and the charger and thought all was good only for the mount to start playing up. Turns out the drive on my CG-4 has taken a turn for the worst so had to call it a day whilst I try and repair it. So just a white light full disk today..... Not sure what I'm going to do with the broken CG-4 drive as they are not even made any more! The drive itself seems ok but the flexi-joint to the worm-wheel has sheared.
  4. Managed to get a quick-ish session in yesterday. It was breezy, showery and the seeing was up and down but there was lots of activity so worth persevering. Missed out on HA full disk as clouds took over by that point but already had decent crop of WL and Ca-K. All taken with the Evostar 120 and ASI178MM, close-ups using a an ES 2x barlow. White Light Calcium K Hydrogen Alpha
  5. Nice. Good to see the wavelength I missed today.
  6. Quick session after finishing work today. Quite a bit of hazy cirrus cloud in the way so went for the AR102 rather than the Evostar. Unfortunately that is a bit limiting but better than nothing at all and with the days getting shorter I need to make the most of it whilst I can. White Light disk And a Calcium disk
  7. Nicely done Steve, as always.
  8. Exactly 2 months since my last solar session! There probably have been opportunities for me to get a session in but today is the first day I recall where I felt confident that, if I got the scope out I would actually get a half decent session in. So today I set up the scope for white light, plugged in an eyepiece and hey presto blank disk, typical! Fortunately Calcium K and H Alpha proved somewhat more entertaining with a massive prom complex on show in both lights. Actually managed to capture a full disk in 3 lights, although the H alpha was touch-and-go for a while with clouds intervening in the capture and then the pano would not stitch initially. A quick re-stack with a flat, pushed the sharpening in ImPPG a bit and it finally submitted. So 3 disks, first up that uber-exciting white light disk. Despite the lack of activity I was still able to stitch a 6 pane mosaic. I know other people look at a blank disk and move on but I find looking for the smallest details in a spotless disk kind of satisfying. Then on to Ca-K And finally H Alpha, plenty going on here with proms and filaments to enjoy.
  9. More sunshine this morning but seeing had gone off a bit. Managed to get the white light full disk to to stitch though.
  10. Another nice clear sky this morning and on a weekend! Caught some good seeing too, giving some nice crisp white light and decent Ca-K images. Finally remembered to shoot flats for my H Alpha disk. Probably the vest one yet. Proms were almost non-existent in Ca-K but looked nice enough in H Alpha Possibly saved the best for last, certainly the sharpest.
  11. Great capture. Some monster filament!
  12. Skies cleared again today and I happened to be home Had another go at a H Alpha FD using 6 panes as I do for Ca-K plus a WL full disk using the same technique. Always had trouble stitching these in the past but seemed to go ok today. Tried the 0.5x reducer in Ca-K too. First up Ca-K. Full disk taken using the Evostar but with a 0.5x reducer in front of the 178 camera. Worth a try but I think I will go back to 6 pane full disks in future Close ups Some great proms on show today, especially the plasma arch White light disk and close ups And finally H Alpha. These 6 pane FD's are still a work in progress, one day I will remember to shoot flats Some Trees 🌲🌲🌲🌲 And that arch at it's best
  13. Surprised to wake up to clear skies this morning. First opportunity to image in a month or so! Lots going on so quite a few images. Ca-K FD And some close ups And some proms Some HA with the Quark And the new spot in white light Finally, I plugged my Revelation 0.5x barlow in to the ASI174 behind the Quark to see if it would work....and it did! The full disk image below is made up of 6 panes taken in this fashion. Clouds had started to roll in by this point so this one is pretty ugly but as a proof-of-concept it works for me.
  14. Great shot for a single frame. Nice to see a more complex group on view, I just need the clouds to shift now!
  15. Pushed for time today so a more limited set.Did not really have the time but wanted to get something in before the good weather breaks. Still lots of activity with a nice big spot and some great prominences. I had hoped to try an H alpha full disk mosaic but the laptop battery had other ideas Seeing could have been better and there was a bit of a breeze, on the one hand this helps tame the seeing but brings it's own problems if too strong. All images shot with the Evostar 120 using the ASI178 behind either the Lacerta WL wedge, Lunt Ca-K module or Daystar Combo Quark. Where close ups are taken I added in the Explore Scientific 2x barlow / focal extender. Captured in Firecapture, stacked in AS!3, sharpened in ImPPG and finished in Gimp2.10. The 6 pane mosaic was stitched in AutoStitch. First up, Ca-K 6 pane FD Ca-K close ups were all shot using 2x2 binning which helps to keep the exposure time down and speed up the capture White light images Tweaked my H alpha colouring today as I was not really happy with the results. Still not happy but will experiment! Some newtons rings showing in this image, usually I take more time aligning the diagonal / barlow / quark / camera before capture but I was aware of the impending failure of the laptop battery so rushed this one a bit. I was just lining up for a prom capture when the battery quit on me.
  16. Good session this morning, some decent seeing too. Prominences were the real show item today in both Ca-K and H alpha.
  17. Nicely done. Hoping to get a solar fix this weekend 🤞
