Brill Lucas.

Very nice. I'm working on something similar but haven't got the blue and green channels. Will have to wait until autumn now.

The California Nebula in Perseus with more data I gathered in February. Samyang 135mm SLR lens and a G2-8300 CCD camera with Astrodon Ha, R,G,B filters. 40 minutes in each filter. I know it's quite bright but I like it like that.

I love the detail in the galaxy and the colours. But I agree with Olly in that I think you have over-clipped the sky background a tad too much and have lost some detail here. Have you over-clipped to disguise some background issue such as a gradient??? I'd revisit this; the data is worthy of it and you have the basis of a great image in the data.

Wonderful. I love the detail and you have not been tempted to over-saturate the colour like many - myself included - have a tendency to do. What makes your image special is that you have a lot of the very faint outer reaches of the galaxies and I think that makes it especially nice to see. I am working on my own LRGBHa rendition of this when we get some clear nights. I'd be over joyed if it turns out as good as yours. Well done.

Has anyone had any dealings at all with the guys at HOUK recently???? I am moving home and I want my superb HOUK observatory to be taken down and moved five miles and re-erected after I have built the base. Such a shame if they are now done since the quality of Nathan and Gareth's work is superb. Their website is no longer live. Looks like I will be moving it myself [somehow].

Nicely done. You haven’t been tempted to clip too harshly and have a nice sky background. Good star colours too.

Very nicely done. Great detail and lots of the dust clouds that you haven’t lost by stretching too harshly.

I love it. It looks like a flying bird.

I’m glad you like it folks. I may add more to it and get deeper. No Olly, I hardly did anything to it, just pre process, remove gradient and stretch followed by a tad of noise reduction. That’s about it. The QHY268C is a super camera.

Less is more in processing is my personal belief, as in most things in life. But then again, I'm no expert either. I just think it is possible to overdo the processing and the person becomes blind to it; this is especially so with noise reduction. I have done this many times and still do and I have to catch myself and go back to the beginning. I prefer the slight red of the top one. Appeals to me. The one and only change I would have made is to rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise to "match" its real orientation on the sky. I don't bother with this with galaxy clusters etc but with very well known targets such as this, M31 etc, I like to frame it as it would be on a sky map. That's just my opinion though.

I always love the good old favourites. I love the dust you have in the background and the colours. Top drawer mate. Personally I prefer the top one.

FSQ85 with reducer and G2-8300 with Astrodon RGB 31mm filters. 14 x 300s in each filter. I have not done anything with this other than preprocess, remove background gradient, calibrate colour and stretch it. Some tiny background galaxies if you look carefully. Steve

M36 with FSQ85 and G2-8300 CCD. Astrodon RGB and a modest data set of 12 x 120s in each of the R, G and B filters. Tons of nebulosity around all the Auriga area. Hope you like it. Steve

Good going at that FL mate.

Apologies I meant to put this in wide-field section. My bad...

Quick and dirty process. 25 x 120s on QHY268C and Samyang 135mm. Need to get more data really but I love this area of the sky, both photographically and for exploring with the Dob and I know others do too. So I thought I'd share.

Gosh I am so saddened to hear this. I was only chatting with him over PM last summer. So long John, may your star shine brightly.

In the whole of 2022 in Nottingham I managed only three times where I left my gear out running all night, 99.999% it would get rained on.
