Hey all, I think I saw this one to while waiting for the ISS coming from the West to. Saw a real bright glow, quite low on the horizon. Please excuse my ignorance, but what's the difference from this to a "normal" shooting star? Also think I saw a perseid while the ISS was passing the plough! The ISS was brill last night! Loving this hobby!

    Hello from Leicester

Hi James, Thanks for the wlecome. I don't know the make, but it say's it's a 76dia, with a 700mm length. Don't think it's an expensive model, but hoping I can have a good look at the moon and perhaps a couple of the planets with it. Under no illusions of distant galaxy viewing, just yet. Will defo check out that software, thanks for the advice. Dennis.
  4. Hi everyone, As everyone in this section, am very new to looking at the stars. Always looked up, but never really understood it properly and really want to learn more. The GF bought me a telescope for my birthday in July (seems to have been cloudy ever since though, ha ha). But did see the ISS for the first time last night and after following #meteorwatch on twitter all weekend, I saw my first Perseid meteor shower, which was great. Any guidence gratfully recieved. Happy gazing guys 'n' gals. Dennis.
