  1. That is stunning Congratulations! I bet you are more than satisfied with that. I'd like to give this a try myself someday; what are the minimum exposures/stacking needed to bring out details in the Milky Way?
  2. Oop, [removed word], didn't mean to post that image. Was meant to post the unprocessed one: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Enwod/?action=view&current=IMG_0130.jpg blumming hell that's a long stint... I've had clear skies for a good few weeks now i've just not bothered having a look. I've been spoilt. Hope ya get some clear black skies soon matey.
  3. Have the clouds been that bad Algol? Here's the image before I dragged some details from PS: Much, much easier to see Cassiopeia in this one (the W shape group of stars near the top ) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Enwod/IMG_0130Optimized-1.jpg - I've done my best to draw
  4. Thanks Billy, so it does I've definitely going to try harder next time, both in capturing and in my processing; As I just pushed the shadows up a bit and brought out a bit of noise etc... Shall give it another go tonight and try stacking a few images to see what I get... Hopefully I can bring out some of the Milky Way. Thanks for the comment. Josh
  5. http://flickr.com/photos/enwod/2810862545/ Just testing out my new Canon A720IS and CHDK - http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK Which I highly reccomend to any body with a Canon cam that is supported by CHDK... I bought my camera purely to use CHDK on. I was quite please with the ammount of detail I've captured with just a 40 sec exposure (and brought out a bit more in PS)
  6. Thought this may be of some interest to you lot, the DSO people anywho http://universesandbox.com/ Enjoy
  7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:H-R_diagram_-edited-3.gif /\ Somone may be able to make some sense of that...
  8. Cheers for the encouragement and tips everyone. Duly noted 'em all, shall hopefully be producing some stonking images when i've sorted it all out. Thanks, Josh.
  9. Thanks for the tips; had completely forgotten about the Hartman mask I made a while ago, will give it a go next time, thanks.
  10. My first ever Moon mosaic, taken yesterday (11/03/08) with my SPC900NC, prime focus, cellotaped to my Astromaster 130EQ. Did try aligning with an image mosaic programme (I forget the name) and it turned out to be too much effort/I couldn't figure it all out. So instead used Photoshops "Photomerge" option. So I could probably get a much better result in a proper image stacking programme, may re-try at some point. Anyway, what'd you all think?
  11. From my experience so far, I've found the SPC900nc has a magnification between that of a 20mm-10mm eyepiece, at a guess I'd say it's probably the equivelant of a 15mm (or slightly below) And yeah, what KK said about the use of Barlows.
  12. Brilliant idea that, hopefully the rest of England will follow suit; don't understand why they aren't already really.
  13. Had a very quick go at processing, with my nooby skills. Very harsh processing too but you can see there is quite a lot of nubulosity there (was more but didn't wanna be too harsh on the data)
  14. Thanks for the heads up. Another question though, how have you attatched the home-made board to the original one? Thanks, Josh.
