  1. I looked at that and for the whole period I could by another telescope. So it is not the best option..
  2. I hear what you are all saying, and thank you for that. But I am desperate to use a big telescope under dark skies. It is a though call. However, I am tired of being tired to take the dob out, or rain, or clouds or short gap that does not allow the telescope to cool etc. A big telescope that does not see the stars is sad.
  3. Hi All, Does anyone know where in the UK I can find a padded bag for my 12" ES dob? I am planning to take it to a trip later this month. The most appropriate one I found is from Geoptik 12". it fits the dimensions 90x45x45cm. But I have not found in stock yet in the UK. Cheers
  4. Hi try contacting the searcher supplier. They are quite helpfull. I have some at home, but no spare.
  5. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/632558 ‘The Right to Dark Law: No party, whilst illuminating their own property, shall illuminate the exterior of neighbouring and/or nearby properties. The aggrieved parties shall have the legal right to demand that such light trespass be addressed and removed.'
  6. Hi Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for my AZ5 mount head gear cover?
  7. Possible bolid around 20h south north direction. Estimated mag -5. Bright red trail. Seen from 51N 0W aprox. 50 -55° in high. Tracing length 30 to 35° in the sky
  8. If you have a dark sky, between 3rd to 7th of August it is realistic to expect 3 to 5 bright ones per hour and other smaller ones, but not all related to the Perseids. There are some smaller (around 5) active showers such as delta Aquarieds and alpha Capricorniads for example, all peaking at end of July that can be added to the increasing activity of perseids.
  9. Great set! I hope you can find the missing ones soon. Do you use it quite often? I do have a complete BGO set that is used together with my 12" Dob. I find it the perfect match in terms of visual and physical balance of the Dob. I don't remember seeing darker backgrounds than I see with my orthos.
  10. Your picture reproduces what I was looking at few minutes ago. Well done. I took my daughter 14y to see her first comet naked eye with tail. Not every day you put together the words comet, Naked eye and tail in the same sentence.
  11. I didn't wake up my children. The light dawn doesn't allow me me to call it spectacular. They would not enjoy it as much as I did.
  12. Just catch it on my 8x40. 3h30am naked eye. Direct views. Tail noticeable. Once located with binoculars is quite obvious with naked eye. 3h31 Great tail. ~40 ' that is a bit bigger than a full moon. Quite broad.arc-shaped West Side, straight slightly fainter east side- 8x40 mag. 1.7 3h44am averted vision. Started to be consumed by background dawn light. A beauty!
  13. Next time put the audio from the launch pad. Not studio. Much nicer.
  14. Also, it is easy to print a pdf. Pluto here I go.
  15. Thanks Waddenshy, Cartes du ciel did the trick! I have downloaded the GAIA 2 mag 18.
  16. There is a live on youtube tomorrow 8h30 AM BST from Astroneos, Brazil. The same group who have discovered some comets and asteroids recently. Comet Jaques, 2019 OK and others. Latest reports Magnitude 5.1. Coma 10". https://youtu.be/8-xlAL7uKno Today's live is still happening. Brazilian portuguese though. But everybody speaks astronomy.
