Hi, I started out with a 76mm Newtonian scope last year, but was only satisfied with looking at the moon (everything else was a blur), so I sold it on - I have now got the bug again - but have narrowed it down to 3 or 4 scopes, a skywatcher 200p reflector (1000mm focal length), a Skywatcher 150p reflector (750mm focal length), a Skywatcher 150p (1200mm focal length), or a smaller 114mm synscan reflector. I have read the FAQ about newbies starting out using binoculars for a year. I can upgrade the Skywatchers after a year or so with a synscan kit. the main question is whats the difference between the 2 150mm scopes with different focal lengths, I have done all the maths and it seems the 150p with 1200mm length has more magnification than the 200p and the shorter 150p , but I dont understand what the difference is. Apologies for such a long first blog from a newbie, but I'm sure I'm not the first. BB
