  1. I have an upcoming trip that will bring me through the province of San Juan, Argentina in mid-to-late August for 3 or 4 nights. According to the light pollution maps, most of the province is classified as Bortle Class 1. I live in Class 5 so I am ecstatic about the chance for some prime observing. I picked up an Orion ShortTube 80 for the trip to pack in the carry-on bag. Does anyone here know the lay of the land, and if so, could you recommend some specific locations for best viewing? Any suggestions for DSOs to target? Cheers.
  2. What a wonderful publication filled with careful work,, a true labor of love. It is refreshing to see these objects portrayed close to the way I see them even in my modest 130mm Newtonian reflector, without the image stacking, filtering, or colorizations that permeate the literature and chat rooms these days. This is a true field guide that sets realistic expectations for the visual astronomer, and is a must have resource for every novice. Congratulations on your fine work.
