I think Altair is stainless steel nose piece. I have all my Starguiders eye cups twist/turn 3 -4 times for best comfort/experience for me and normally hardly ever adjust. They are probably just over half way up. I will need to twist down 25mm to see what eye relief is like in that position.

Thanks, I was trying to look for weight of Altair option. It was hyperion for wider fov. Morpheus would be better optically.

Thank you. 24mm uff looks great on the ruler matrix . My 25mm Starguider not so good. If I struggle with long eye relief with my 32mm plossl, would that be similar case with 24 uff?

I thought UFF was 65 and ES68?

I'm looking for an upgrade eyepiece for my LX90 ACF 8inch at 24mm to get maximum fov for 1.25 fitting. I do not wear glasses. Currently i have BST Starguider and Meade 4000 SP 32mm. I don't really get on with the Meade Plossl, I struggle with eye placement with this eyepiece. Optically it is great. I am willing to spend up to £200 new for this. I am thinking about either ES68 24mm Stella Lyra(APM, Altair, Celestron) UF 24mm , Baader Hyperion 24mm I do use a 2 inch diagonal with 1.25 adaptor so it is an easy switch. My only 2inch is ES 68 34mm which I find stunning. Would I be better looking at 20mm 2 inch such as Stella LYRA 80/Founder optics or stick with my original 1.25 upgrade idea. Thanks.

The Duplex Moon Atlas is a great resource for matching orientation to your scope if you are will to stick with left right reversed images. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/books/duplex-moon-atlas-the-next-generation-lunar-atlas-by-ronald-stoyan.html I do think this recommended by Stu may be a better choice than the one I have and think I will be upgrading to this soon. My field map is really convenient/light. I often tuck under arm or bend it over and tuck in in handles of mount. Also, have you tried without diagonal and attached eyepiece directly to your ota. It can be a little uncomfortable but it may help on your final decision.

I have had a lot of success with 8mms/12mms within this range. I also use 9.7mm, 6.4mm Plossl and 5mm in Cyclops mode. 3.2mm has been used only a few times for lunar observing- it's good to have just incase!. I prefer fixed focul length eps. I'm not a fan of zooms, but the new kid on the block SVbony 8-3mm may be worth a punt with your set up along with Baader BCO 10mm or Vixen SLV 9/10mm and 12mm. I still strongly recommended Binoviewer as first choice.

Hi, I have Meade LX90 ACF 8 inch SCT, similar to yours. I had similar idea to get some 'better' eyepieces for lunar/planetry. In the end I just doubled up on most of my eyepieces and use with Binoviewer. If you are able to get along with BV they do offer stunning views, and a comfortable relaxing experience.

On my SCT I use BST Starguiders , ES & Meade Plossls. If you don't need a wider fov Starguiders are great at about £50 and there is a 5mm. There may well be better choices, but they will most likely be at least x2 cost. As i am sure you are aware SCTs are kind on eyepieces. Svbony zoom 8-3mm could be a good choice? I haven't used this but there are a lot of positive comments about this zoom.

I use Antares 2" 99% Dielectric Twist Lock Mirror Diagonal with 1.25 adaptor. Big improvement on what I upgraded from. I like the twist lock security.

I haven't had a chance to use 3.2 mm yet. I usually get out observing from September through to March. (Not 1 massive session!). Thinking of maybe adding baader q turret for high power Cyclops mode, I don't think I would get anything out of svbony 8-3 zoom in my SCT.?

That's the reason why I got 3.2mm. To complete the set.

Are Baader q turret sets with 6,10,18 BCO / 32mm Plossl & q Barlow still available? At least you know that will take payload. Slightly narrower FOV though.

Hi, amongst other eyepieces I have Starguiders in each of the 7 focal lengths. Doubled up from 8 through to 25 for Binoviewers. I think they are great and provide me with fantastic views in my SCT. In case weight may be a concern 8mm, 15mm, 18mm, & 25mm are each about the same height and weight at 181gm. 3.2mm is tallest followed by 5mm both at 215gm. 12mm is 198gm. I haven't gotten round to getting Baader q turret yet.

I think I'd like to try an Ortho in my SCT. BCO 10mm seems a frontrunner for me?

I'm sure 16mm was/is a flatfield 58 fov offering from bst/barsta.

I also have all of them (12 in total). I have doubled down on 8mm through to 25mm for using with Binoviewer for which they are to me fantastic. 18mm is my favourite. I also have ES82 14mm & ES68 34mm. For Cyclops mode perhaps these are a little better, but come at x3 / x4 cost. I once dropped BST Starguider 18mm onto my patio. It survived it didn't miss a beat. I use mine on Meade LX90 ACF 8 inch. SCT's are kind to eyepieces and with the GOTO and tracking wider field eyepieces aren't really necessary. I also have a set of Meade 4000 SP which are also very good and a couple of zooms that I don't really enjoy. Fixed length eps all the way for me. I think I am all set and don't really need anymore. Just enjoy the view. Of course there may be better options out there but usually at a much greater cost. For some the greater cost may not be an issue and will be justified?? For most of us, BST Starguiders may be the only upgrades we really need.
