  1. You’re right about the GOTO list & software although I believe various YouTubers have been promised updates. I got a couple of nice shots last night before the clouds came in. Nothing worthy of posting here though.
  2. I used to live in Ladywell which was on the Hayes (Kent) to London line with trains stopping at New Cross. Hayes is pretty close to Bromley, could be a good place to look. Beckenham too. New Cross is also on the tube (was at the end of the line years ago, might not be now) but I don’t think getting there from anywhere else in London would be very quick. If you wanted to live fairly nearby, Blackheath is a nice but expensive area. Greenwich may be too, not so sure nowadays though.

    Hi

    Hi Justin, welcome!
  4. Hiya, welcome to the lounge! Whereabouts are you (roughly!)?
  5. The first time I set up my C925 in October I put it on some heavy tiles on grass but I remembered back to warmer times and insect bites. Since then I moved to the patio where most of north is obstructed by the house but I can just get Polaris in the polar scope.
  6. Yours looks to be much further down the cable than mine, I’ll measure distance in a bit…
  7. I have not encountered this issue but probably I haven’t used my mount as much as you. When I was having trouble with my handset I used an RJ45 tester on the lead and it looks like it’s wired straight-through so you could probably reverse it so the ferrite block is at the handset end. FYI I always put my handset holder opposite the north leg.
  8. Thanks everyone, I guess it was so long since I had previously done the alignment & watched videos etc that I kind of forgot!
  9. You’ll have to show me how to line up the phone as I have a devil of a job getting my iPhone to look through any eyepiece!
  10. Thanks; I guess the thing was, when I did it, the suggested position of Polaris was only 13 minutes from the zero position, so it was all pointing in the right general direction!
  11. Okay, thanks. I did proceed to do a star alignment I just thought (although none of the videos said!) that I should be able to see Polaris through the main scope on alignment. In my mind it makes sense.
  12. Hi all, Sorry to be asking questions about this but I have watched so many videos etc and I thought I had it sorted. I set my HEQ5 Pro up nice & level pointing the N leg approx. to Polaris/NCP. Then used the method from the PS Align app to centre Polaris on NCP in the reticle, then use Alt to move it down to the bottom of the ring for zero position. Then, set the reticle to the correct orientation and use Alt/Az to place Polaris correctly. I thought I had it all sorted but then, looking through my main scope (C925 with 40mm eyepiece) I couldn’t see Polaris at all, it seemed like it was pointing too low. I had expected Polaris to be pretty close the centre of the FoV, was that wrong?
