  1. My 7x50 Soviet binos suffered irreparable damage, so I am in the market for a new pair. Either 7x50 or 8x56. So far the Hawke and GPO 8x56 and the Fujinon FMTR SX2 7x50 are leading the running. Any opinions welcomed. Thanks.
  2. I have a pair of 1976 Zomz 7x50 which are my go to binoculars. Fab optics and views. I also have a pair of Fujinon 16x70 FMT for lovely clear nights when I get the tripod out.
  3. I have a 1976 pair off eBay for about £40, with original everything except the booklet. I wouldn’t part with mine - can’t get that quality of view these days for less that a good couple of hundred. My neighbour has a set of 10x50 Carl Ziess Jenoptem from early eighties. He wouldn’t part with his either. Is there something about the older binoculars that you don’t get today without parting with serious sums ?
  4. I got a pair of Zomz. 7x50 off eBay for about £35. Case, lens filters, lens caps etc. Lovely pair of binoculars. Wouldn’t sell them. If you can find a pair, you won’t go wrong.
