  1. I have been using the above camera for deep sky objects and have been using an offset of 40 (don't know where that figure came from) but I have read that it is more likely to perform better with it set at 70, my gain is set at 101, does anyone have a recommended setting of offset for this camera and a reason behind it please
  2. Well thanks for your kind assistance, after following your guidance all is now sorted.
  3. TBH I got a little confused with the online instructions so thought I would watch youtube, but obviously they assumed a lot too, when I get another clear night I will carry out your suggestions now I have read into them and understand them. All cables appear to be fine as I appear to have full computer control; of the mount in all other respects. Thanks for your help Phil
  4. Here is the guidelog file, don't really understand what it means though. If it is PE why does it not affect the centering of the object over a long time (in excess of 30 minutes) as in my subs schedule when I eventually elected to image the pinwheel, as this stayed centred but still produced star trails when exposure times exceeded 45 seconds. Or am I missing something about periodic error ?. Thanks for your help so far. PHD2_GuideLog_2022-05-27_104937.txt
  5. This is one of the 3 minute subs, the trails are top to bottom, whereas the 45 sub is perfect with perfectly round pinpoint stars. I know this one is of Bode's
  6. Extra, It must have been tracking fairly well as the subs were all exactly centred and this was done over a period of 30 minutes
  7. Hi newbie here, I set up my new HEQ5 last night to get to grips with it, I polar aligned it via NINA successfully and thought I would have a go at the Pinwheel galaxy through my WO Z61, well I found it, centred it (using plate solving) and took a few test exposures using ASI533MC Pro, firstly at 30 seconds and 45 seconds all was fine, but at anything over a minute and there were various star trails, I checked eqmod and it was in sidereal mode and stated it was tracking. I then thought I could use PHD2 on my guide scope and AIS120MM Mini to clean things up, but it wouldn't calibrate and eventually when it did it appeared not to be able to make sufficient adjustments to keep things guided and then it just gave up. I eventually went on to image at 45 seconds for multiple subs and the result when stacked weren't bad, but anyone got any ideas why I can't get it to track properly either without PHD2 or even with PHD2 (I haven't adjusted any setting in PHD2), the scope is balanced in both RA and DEC. In anticipation, Phil
  8. Does anyone know what the minimum payload is for this mount as I have a WO zenithstar61 a guide scope guiding camera and a dslr forming the imaging train (total payload is around 3.6Kg) but having looked at the Explore Scientific EXOS2 pmc-eight GOTO Mount I am concerned that I may not get it to balance as the cw are pretty big. Any users of this mount able to give me an indication ?
  9. I do a little astrophotography and some visual work and am debating which mount to get to supplement my Star Adventurer, I realise there is 1 Kg difference in max load, but as I am unlikely to near that with any of my equipment or imaging then that doesn't bother me, but as these two are a similar price and similar specs (except the fact that the eqm-35 is modular and can also be used as a star tracker) I am at a loss as to which to go for, any constructive advice would be most helpful Thanks in advance Phil
  10. Just got this back from the UK distributor: "The weight of L-bracket is included in (contributes to) the 5KG payload capacity. The total loading, including the L-bracket should not exceed 5kg Kind regards, OVL"
  11. I am aiming on a usual payload of around 60% or so, maybe creep up a little when I put the guiding scope on but will ensure that the whole rig is well balanced
  12. Hi all, I know the maximum payload for the sky adventurer is 5kg, however does this include the L bracket, CW bar and counterweight or are they additional to the 5kg, if they are inclusive it really knocks down the max payload of "additional items" such as camera/lens or camera/scope down to around 3.2Kg as the L bracket/CW bar/CW etc come in at 1778g. Your thoughts on this would be most welcome. Phil
  13. The camera is a canon M100 unmodified
  14. Took some dark frames tonight and out of interest I thought I would have a look at them, to my surprise I found a lot of hot pixels (well that is what I think they are as it looks like a starfield. Is this normal ? It was an 8 sec frame on iso 800 test.TIF
