My real name is Roger. I can be a bit irascible, hence the forum name. I am a retired Canadian civil servant, with a lifelong love of Astronomy and all things scientific. In fact, I'm curious about everything from good literature to planarian worms, from the nature of our planet to the shape size and origins of our universe,
I have been a type 1 diabetic since 1967. This has put a bit of a cramp in my ambitions, but not a great one. It did end my plans for a military career, but I've done OK. I have four lovely and prosperous children, three of whom are married, a grandson, a wife and a lovely big King Shepherd named Pepper. I don't have a lot of money, but I have happiness to spare.
I am a Subdeacon in an Anglican High Church, but don't get any ideas about my conceptions of evolution and the age of the universe - I follow the scientific lead. The universe is 13,500,000,000 years old. Exactly. :D
I have no sense of humour at all, and never say anything that cannot be taken for Gospel.
If I think of anything else after I take my pills, I'll come back here and add it.
