  1. You literally type in the image names with a minus sign between i.e. Melotte15 - starless and it will create a new image for you, rename this as "stars" and away you go
  2. Hi John, To answer your question on PixInsight forum I use pixelmath as follows: 1. Stars Image = Original Image - Starless Image 2. Work on Starless image as required 3. New Image = Modified Starless Image + Stars Image And don't forget the Stars Image is just about a perfect star mask as you can get Hope this helps

  5. Hi John, Its a script in PI Script > Noise Reduction > MureDenoise. It is usually applied straight after the integration process and applied to each master before combining. This post refers: https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=9206.0

  7. John, Have a look at using MureDenoise on your masters before you combine, its absolutely brilliant at removing the noise at the linear stage
  8. That is a cracking image, love the blue and orange/yellow rendered areas, and the contrast control is perfect.
  9. I like the reprocessed image with the greater detail and the orange colour, but like Adam the blue is too strong for me and would prefer is more a baby blue colour.

  13. Hi Adam, Have you ever seen this tutorial for combining RGB using Photoshop, before I switched to PixInsight I used this method with much success. Just ignore the fits liberator bit and the use the layer structure. https://www.spacetelescope.org/projects/fits_liberator/stepbystep/ I do have template PS files with all the layers set up if you want a copy of them

  17. That is a super image with lots of detail, nicely captured. Just a suggestion, I would selectively darken the background quite a bit to give it some depth and make it more moody, but otherwise a very nice image.

  19. Thanks very much for your kind words, it isn't often you get something accepted like this, thanks again. Brian, I normal adjust colours in PI using colorMasks, although I think this image was done in PS just using Channel Mixer, and yes it a fair bit of fiddling to get it juts right.

This is an image of NGC7000 The North American Nebula in HOO that I recently entered into the RPS's Science Photographer Of The Year Competition, didn't win it but was selected down to the last 10 out of 3000+ images, and my image is being exhibited at the London Science Museum during October to January.
