  4. My first light was Jupiter, back in 2005 with my 150mm Dob (which I sadly had to sell 2 yrs later ) But I'll never forget it, looking up at that bright spot in the sky...then looking through the eyepiece and seeing that spot become a definable disc with the storm patterns and the moons...priceless... On the bright side...my birthday in June...and might well pick up a 200mm Dob and renew my friendship with Jupiter!

    Hello folks.

Hi there Finch and welcome to the SGL! I use Celestron 20x80's and have had some great nights viewing over the last few weeks. Skies are clearing slightly this evening also...so crossing fingers that I may get out tonight.

  21. Hi Bart, I'm the same as Hobbes, as long as the centre post is giving clearance from the tripod head I don't have any problems. I also keep some Ibuprofen gel handy to deal with the crick in my neck if I've viewed at Zenith for any length of time!
  22. Hi Doug, I went back out tonight to take another look / confirm the sighting but too much high cloud blocked it all! Had a decent look at the Moon though...there's always something to see!
