Asiair and Vonets wifi boosters
Figgis replied to Figgis's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Hello again. I have a Vonets VBG1200, also with a quad antenna. My mount is halfway down my garden about 20 mts from the Hub in my Living Room. I was uncertain as to which wifi name to log on with my controlling Tablet, and also what one to use in the App. Thank you for the above, I have a good signal now that it's snowing in London, DAMMITT... -
Asiair and Vonets wifi boosters
Figgis replied to Figgis's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Anything that will provide a stable connection that will reach please -
Dear All. I'm struggling setting up my Vonets. Here's what I've done so far. Switched off wifi on my laptop. Connected the Vonets to the laptop, then logged onto wifi as "Vonets######". Opened a Browser and entered 192.168.254.254 & logged in as admin ...admin . I clicked on my home wifi and entered it's password, but do I click on the ASI wifi signal and enter that password instead? I use a tablet to use the ASIAIR App. I'm not sure which wifi to enter into my tablet and ASIAIR, or whether to use Station mode or not. I'd be so grateful if someone would send me a walkthrough. Up until now I have connected my Air to my Router by Cable, but twice now it's been chewed through by Foxes

I always used an ethernet cable, I had a 35m cat8 that cost me £45, and a Fox chewed through it on Wednesday. I wouldn't mind but I'd just fed the little basket, there's gratitude

Dear All. Can I use a VONETS VAP11S-5G Industrial Mini 5GHz WiFi to Ethernet Bridge/Router Hotspot to boost my wi-fi signal and utilise it in 5G, or am I restricted to 2.4G. If this is not the recommended bridge, please could you let me know what works best?

Dear All. I've recently boxed up my EQ5 to be sent to Darkframe and should have measured it beforehand as I'm looking to swap out the Saddle for something better than the "Thumbscrew" it comes with as standard. I'm looking to bolt on the Baader Pan 3 "/ EQ Dual clamp 230mm (for Losmandy and Vixen-standard) #2451566. I've found out that the holes to mount this are 35mm apart. Please could someone measure what the spacing is on a SW-EQ5 Saddle, or does anyone know if it does/doesn't fit?

SGL 2024 Challenge 2 - DSO Sky Survey
Figgis replied to MartinB's topic in SGL Challenges and Competitions
I got lucky with the Rosette last week. Rig; Esprit100, AZ-EQ6-GT, ASI2600MC & an Optolong L-Ultra under a Bortle7/8. Processed only with Siril. -
Dear All. I've only been imaging with my 'Frac up until now, leaaving a perfectly good Newt sitting in the corner. I'm looking at upgrading it a little and trying it out for size. It's a SW 200p. I've swapped out the Crayford for a Baader, flocked the inside, the Collimation will now be with an Ocal 3, thanks to Backyard Universe I have masked the Primary and upgraded the Spider. On choosing a Secondary Mirror Mask, I've discovered that the 200PDS has a 58mm diameter while my P only has a 52mm. Is this just to accomodate the PDS shorter tube? Will it be beneficial to swap it for a larger size? I have planned to move the primary slightly further deeper into the tube to help with increasing Backfocus.

Hello All. I'm looking for options for Image Processing, who uses what and why do you like it?

No no, fire away, this is all good knowledge

Dear All. Up until now I have only been using a LP Filter for Imaging with my asi2600 with average results for Deep Sky. So I have purchased an ASIEFW and a set of 3 Narrowband Filters to enhance my pics. My question being would I keep my Light Polution fixed in my Stack somewhere, while I image with the Narrows in the wheel? I should say the Camera is colour and the three NB ar O-III, H-Alpha & S-II.

Replacement Bearings for a SW EQ5 Pro Synscan.
Figgis replied to Figgis's topic in Getting Started General Help and Advice
Lovely, thank you for the reply. I should have said though that I was planning to get everything I needed before starting, but a couple of days wait won't kill me. -
Dear All. As I rarely use this Mount now, I thought I might busy myself during the short nights by stripping it down and changing the Bearings.....I've seen several references to Bearing Size & Reference Numbers, which has left me in the Dark as to what the correct sizes are.....Anyone swapped theirs and can remember what they used?

Dear All. I have recently invested in a few more pieces of kit to better my Astrophotography. I got myself a SW Esprit 100 with the matching Field Flattener. On getting round to "RTFM" fully, it stated that the FF is just for Photo use only , is it not practical to use it for Visual? It seems a waste of time, unscrewing everything only to have to connect it all again, Lazy Tyke.

Looking at that Pic, I gather it's the Camera end that will need a little longer than the EP, they have a 1½" Clicklock & the Polaris straight onto the t2 top.

Yes, I new I'd seen a pic somewhere, thank you sir.

ASI air plus

Hello All. Once more unto the Fountain of Information. I'm putting together a Guider on my Frac. I'm using Baader Varioscope and thought I might complicate things a bit it seems. I want to use a Flip Mirror with it to alternate between Finding then Guiding. The Backfocus required for the ZWO ASI462 that I have set aside for the job is 12.5mm. A Polaris II Eyepiece is being used and is screwed into the other Port of the Flip. Do I need to space either of these further away from the Lip of the Flip for them to be parfocal? trying to save myself a headache here so any and all replies so very welcome.

Hello All. It was recommended to me when I bought this mount to swap over the Clamps. After seeing my friends 200 Newt hit the deck on Saturday, I've decided to not risk it any more. My problem being that I can't see which one of the ADM or Baader ones are advertised to fit. Any of you fellows able to point me in the right direction please?

Dear All. I'm in the Proceeds of putting together a better Kit for Astro-imaging. I've ordered an ASIair Plus, and although ZWO have attempted to address the connectivity issues from previous models there still seems to be a few comments/complaints in the air. Therefor I thought a good idea to get a wifi booster. Looking at the market there seems to be quite a lot of choice. To save time and money is there a specific spec that's best for me? Let me know what worked for you and I'll get the Beers in..

A few of you have said you have bought a WiFi Dongle for this Girl. I have one for my EQ5 that I upgraded but my 6 runs Synscan without it. Did they not include WiFi in the earlier Mounts then it seems?

Hello All. Here's a thing. I've had some good results imaging with my ZWO's. I have a Coma Corrector on my Newt, and a Flattener for the Frac, but when I plug a Cam into my 127 Mak, I'm at a loss as to what Back Focus to set for best results. Please can someone point me in the right direction, I'm getting a little tired screwing extensions together?

Thanks Peter.

Dear All. I'm looking at a few items from ZWO to add to the pile. Has anyone bought directly from their own site? I'm not in a huge rush to get them so 30 Days wait wont kill me. The prices are attractive, but I understand there will be duties and taxes. I see their own site encourages purchasing from a Local Dealer, which is a concern. Any Horror Stories or Compliments & Comments?
