The port is in the dome controller but is used to close the shutter (if the auto shutter system is fitted) if a rain sensor is fitted. The rain sensor has to short the two pins together to signal that the shutter needs to close.

Okay, you haven't installed the Shutter Controller, which makes sense now. I use an AAG Cloudwatcher to govern what opens and what shuts :)

  2. I've owned an Avalon Linear Reverse for over 4 years and it has never let me down, although I have let it down on numerous occasions. It guides superbly and needs no periodic software whatsoever. I have attached an old PHD2 graph but I now have better guiding statistics now I use PHD2 multiple guiding.

According to the BBC (Light pollution: How lockdown has darkened our skies https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/science-environment-56634629 ) it did by 10% according to the recent star count survey.

Did anyone seriously notice a reduction?

For me, not in the darkness of the sky during a moonless night but the absence of aeroplanes was certainly noticeable and most welcome!

Still getting more and more satellite trails though 😡
