  4. Well don't laugh too hard and be kind but this is the first image I've ever done of anything using a telescope ( even the moon!) Used a PST and an Orion Solar System Imager but I can't seem to get any higher screen res out of my ancient laptop which makes focusing and producing detail a bit difficult - I see a new laptop on the way !! Anyway here is it
  5. Had the neice and nephews, sister in law and even GF looking at the moon and Saturn on Sunday past. Much oohing and aaahing !! Maxing out the mag on the Magrez 72 with a 3mm only gives me about 130 x but you could still see the rings of Saturn distinctly even with the tiny size !! The moon you could lick ! Littlest (5yrs) went mad and demanded I give him the toy scope someone bought me for Xmas a couple of years ago so I had to lend him 50p so he could buy it of me !! Cute:D
  6. Dooomed ! Were all doomed Cap'n Manering....

  9. Thanks Guys / Gals - looks like it's do-able but maybe a webcam makes things easier. Some great images too folks ! I'm still trying (trying to see anything that is - bloomin weather!!)
  10. I splashed out on the Televue Nagler 6-3mm zoom which is utterly astounding but as previously mentioned is "mucho dinero" - however you do get 4 eyepices for the price of 1 plus the infinite gradations between the stops..........
  11. T shirts and stickers please ! Should really be a wooly had for my folically challenged bonce !!
  12. Hi All, like lot of the new DSLRs mine can take full 1080p HD video (in 10 minute bursts) - anyone had any experience of how that could be used for imaging ? Cheers Sorry Mods I posted this in the newcomers too so apologies for multiple threading - me bad !

  14. There's the Widescreen Centre near Baker street in London - easy to get to for you - train / bakerloo line. Only problem is if you have something heavy / massive to carry but a taxi back to Paddington is only a fiver. :-) (I work in London but travel in from further up the Thames Valley)
  15. Thanks Pete ! - I solved the (non) problem by buying an EQ3 synscan ! An expensive fix but hey WTH! I van use the EQ2 as back up or have 2 scopes (or camera) mounted up at once I suppose. Does the spending ever end......?
  16. a standard 1/4" 20 adapter ? I have an EQ2 mount which has standard tripod adapter on it to which I currently attach my William Optics Magrez. I have just ordered a Vixen Optics VNC110L which comes with a standard dovetail - will I need another adapter ? Cheers

  18. Well it's started already New interest - new way to spend lots of money ! Bought a 90mm Skywacher refractor with EQ2 - nice I thought..... then considerd portability for treks to the fields where I live and ended up a week later with a shiny new (with digi focus display) William Optic Megrez 72 which of course needed a 2" star diagonal (carbon fibre natch !) and a red dot finder..... William Optics - Megrez 72 Doublet APO Tell me I have done a good thing !! I assume we've all done this and it will only get worse.... Hooray !!
