    M57 LRGB

From the album: SX Superstar Mono LRGB first tests

I'm happy with this result, a good example of the increase in red sensitivity compared to my previous attempts on this target with a DSLR. Also the reduced field of view doesn’t really hinder me for these smaller targets. 80x30sec = 40 mins total LRGB (RGB binned @ 2x2) L=20x30sec R=20x30sec G=20x30sec B=20x30sec Orion F/7 102mm Premium refractor Moonlight focuser iOptron Minitower Alt/Az mount LRGB Baader 1.25" filters Xagyl Communications 5 Position Superslim USB Filter Wheel Maxim DL PS CS5

    M82 LRGB Big

From the album: SX Superstar Mono LRGB first tests

Another good example of how the disadvantage of having a restricted field of view using this camera when compared to my DSLR is partially offset by the increase in sensitivty. The finer details of M82 have always eluded my previous attempts before trying with this camera. 80x30sec = 40 mins total LRGB (RGB binned @ 2x2) L=20x30sec R=20x30sec G=20x30sec B=20x30sec Orion F/7 102mm Premium refractor Moonlight focuser iOptron Minitower Alt/Az mount LRGB Baader 1.25" filters Xagyl Communications 5 Position Superslim USB Filter Wheel Maxim DL PS CS5

    Jupiter LRGB Small

From the album: SX Superstar Mono LRGB first tests

I'm not very familiar with planetary imaging, and I would usually use my Televue Powermates for this type of work with a DLSR. I don’t have the necessary adapters to mount the filter wheel or camera on to these just yet however (on order though). So this is at prime focus just as with the other shots, although the crop is a little tighter. Exposure took a little getting used to, but basically both Jupiter and Venus are bright enough to use almost the faster shutter speed available on this camera (0.001sec) and still obtain some level of detail. M27 LRGB

From the album: SX Superstar Mono LRGB first tests

My favourite of the bunch. The mount tracked well, I'd ironed out a couple of small niggles in MaximDL (setting the pause between exposures to allow for some minor jitter in the filter wheel shortly after changing position), and most importantly the sky was steady and transparent. 80x30sec = 40 mins total LRGB (RGB binned @ 2x2) L=20x30sec R=20x30sec G=20x30sec B=20x30sec Orion F/7 102mm Premium refractor Moonlight focuser iOptron Minitower Alt/Az mount LRGB Baader 1.25" filters Xagyl Communications 5 Position Superslim USB Filter Wheel Maxim DL PS CS5

I was experimenting with varios processing options within MaximDL for this image, maybe a little more than was called for... 40x30sec = 20 mins total LRGB (RGB binned @ 2x2) L=10x30sec R=10x30sec G=10x30sec B=10x30sec Orion F/7 102mm Premium refractor Moonlight focuser iOptron Minitower Alt/Az mount LRGB Baader 1.25" filters Xagyl Communications 5 Position Superslim USB Filter Wheel Maxim DL PS CS5

Again, longer exposures and decent tracking would start to do this galaxy justice, but the increase in sensitivity is a boon for Alt/Az mountings. 40x30sec = 20 mins total LRGB (RGB binned @ 2x2) L=10x30sec R=10x30sec G=10x30sec B=10x30sec Orion F/7 102mm Premium refractor Moonlight focuser iOptron Minitower Alt/Az mount LRGB Baader 1.25" filters Xagyl Communications 5 Position Superslim USB Filter Wheel Maxim DL PS CS5

Still needs a lot more data on this one, but it goes to show that the additional sensitivity of this camera brings out even faint details not readily available with my un-modded DSLR. 80x30sec = 20 mins total LRGB (RGB binned @ 2x2) L=20x30sec R=20x30sec G=20x30sec B=20x30sec Orion F/7 102mm Premium refractor Moonlight focuser iOptron Minitower Alt/Az mount LRGB Baader 1.25" filters Xagyl Communications 5 Position Superslim USB Filter Wheel Maxim DL PS CS5

Poor seeing and transparency made this target a bit noisier than I was expecting. Longer subs and more data would help, but not bad for a quick LRGB try-out. 40x30sec = 20 mins total LRGB (RGB binned @ 2x2) L=10x30sec R=10x30sec G=10x30sec B=10x30sec Orion F/7 102mm Premium refractor Moonlight focuser iOptron Minitower Alt/Az mount LRGB Baader 1.25" filters Xagyl Communications 5 Position Superslim USB Filter Wheel Maxim DL PS CS5

Shame about the focus... :( The mount was tracking great for this target, it was only after the full integration time was completed that I realized how badly out of focus it was. 80x30sec = 40 mins total LRGB (RGB binned @ 2x2) L=20x30sec R=20x30sec G=20x30sec B=20x30sec Orion F/7 102mm Premium refractor Moonlight focuser iOptron Minitower Alt/Az mount LRGB Baader 1.25" filters Xagyl Communications 5 Position Superslim USB Filter Wheel Maxim DL PS CS5

Very few good shots from this part of the sky. The mount would just not track nicely at all, so sub-exposure times went way down as well as the number of keepers. 20x20sec LRGB (RGB binned @ 2x2) L=5x20sec R=5x20sec G=5x20sec B=5x20sec Orion F/7 102mm Premium refractor Moonlight focuser iOptron Minitower Alt/Az mount LRGB Baader 1.25" filters Xagyl Communications 5 Position Superslim USB Filter Wheel Maxim DL control, capture and FITS processing PS CS5
