  1. Perhaps if you have access to an air compressor or even a keyboard air cleaner spray can you could see it moves when a jet of air is pointed at the specs.
  2. I'm pretty well on the way to be set up with hardware with a nice 10" newton, EQ6R Pro with a ZWO ASI294mc camera, filter drawer, ZWO OAG with ASI174mm guide camera and Baader MCC and intend to bring it all together with an ASIAIR Plus if anybody ever gets some stock. After much trawling of forums, YouTube videos etc., I'm still no clearer in what stacking and processing software to use as a beginner. I hope to be able to image remotely without a laptop (ASIAIR) and then do the rest indoors at leisure. I'm a native Mac user but have a Windows PC that would suffice if necessary. From your experience and knowledge which software package(s) would suit a beginner with the above workflow? Thanks in advance
  3. I'm trying to put together an imaging train on a new Orion Optics CT10 and have the main camera but now am researching options for the guiding package. I am leaning towards an OAG for the reason of easier disassembly and storage of the scope off the mount. Speaking to John and OO he said 'The CT10 setup can be alter the back focal distance without changing the secondary mirror by roughly +-20mm. At the moment they are set around 45mm from the top of the focuser' What if any additional kit might I need for an OAG considering the above. Ive been looking at the ZWO OAG Mk2?
  4. I have made a start on the journey having received a EQ6-R mount and awaiting an Orion Optics CT10 in a month or so. I've managed to assemble a limited range of eye pieces all having good eye relief as I'm a glasses wearer. Also an Explore Scientific x2 Focal extender. The aim eventually is to move on to photography but at the moment just visual so want to ensure I have all the necessary kit for just visual viewing. I'm wondering how often the CT10 might need collimating as it will be stored off the mount whilst not in use and on this subject can anyone give some advice on a reasonable collimator (that itself can be collimated). Are there decent ones out there other than the much talked about Hotech?
  5. I recently got this one from Amazon for a meagre £6.89 for a iPhone 12 Max Pro. Works a treat both in horizontal and portrait mode on a standard camera tripod.

  7. I have a 1m long 10" Newton on order (OOUK) which will be mated to a EQ6R-Pro tripod. I'm looking for some advice as I intend to use a Losmandy style dovetail plate. There are quite a few options out there so firstly what length would you suggest would be most suitable and secondly what make/model should should I avoid. There seems to be extruded versions and solid bar versions and also metric and imperial options on one I've seen. Just don't want to make a mistake with this vital piece of the system by getting something too short or too flimsy. Many thanks in advance
  8. Being relatively new to the hobby I've found most UK suppliers have little or no stock of many of their advertised eye pieces such as Televue, Baader, Explore scientific etc., Is this normal at this time of year or as a result of the Pandemic? It seems very difficult even to get information of when they'll receive new stock.
  9. Does anybody use the above combination on their Morpheus Eye pieces and if so what effect (if any) have you found on the eye relief?
  10. Can anybody give me the diameter of this aperture as I'm looking at buying a S/H Polemaster but it has an SW EQ8 fitting adaptor. Many thanks in advance.
  11. Lots of Research being done on the best equipment to source. This site is very useful in that aspect, I'm sure there will be many questions from me.
