  1. Very nice Kon, I've just come back in doors after a disappointing session, windows 11 decided to update and configure plus I was unable able to get good image runs without continual buffering.. Maurolycus gives me a smile under this illumination, such a happy looking crater 🙂.. your seeing looks to have been better than mine.

  2. A rare clear sky on Friday,  attempted another mosaic with the 10 inch, lots of issues capturing the 19 frames,  also took a few quick close ups but the seeing had gone down hill from earlier.

10" Newtonian, 3X TV barlow, ASI 174mm  IR pass 650 filter.   Close ups 5x TV powermate.

  4. Wonder if anyone can help assist Identify the small fuzzy blob near 16 monoceros in this image.

Should also mention this is quite a deep image of around 14 hrs, quick rough process.

    Thanks

  5. It's a favourite read of mine, first time I read it I immediately went back to the start and read ir again, I've not felt like this with any other book. As a young astronomer I owned another of his books Guideposts to the stars, that book grew my curiosity in astronomy and 40 odd years later I still love looking up.

  6. After watching the latest video I wondered how short changed those who paid for Astrobiscuit and buddies felt at the end.  Drinking in the hot tub is hardly astronomy,  didn't understand the urgency to image same night as the larger telescope either?   And why not test the scope before taking it abroad?  All a bit fake.

  7. During November I managed 10 nights imaging Jupiter, most of which Ive deleted as the seeing has been so poor, A few nights ago the seeing seemed better than usual and I captured a number of SER files for processing.  As processed single files they are not that spectacular however I ve tried without any success combining and de-rotating the images in Winjupos.  No mater what I do I get a smeared image, Ive watched many tutorials and unless im missing something really obvious I cant get it to work.

All the images are UT stamped, my lat and long are entered,  hitting F11 does not always place the planet stencil over Jupiter correctly so I have manually adjusted this. Im selecting an image around the middle of the vids as a reference time. The image is not being de-rotated as far as I can see only stacked.

    Any thoughts?

It was and is a much treasured volume for me, bought a used one to replace the long worn one of childhood

I sometimes refer to the book and the images in my Astro Club monthly talks I do.

    Enjoy your book.

This book and Leslie Peltier's book Guidepost to the stars started my fascination with astronomy,  I also recommend Peltiers book Starlight Nights, a great read

    Hey all.

New to using PIPP to convert my files from MOV to AVI and have a question regarding file size.

I took a 1.3GB 40,000 frame video from my DSLR, ran it through PIPP and it spat out a 90GB file, is this normal? I expected a file of roughly the same size.

    Cheers

I noticed this too recently, I was not converting the file type yet the output file size increased?

  11. I had a similar problem a year or so ago with a triplet, leaving the scope pointing at the Sun was not an option for me as I live in Scotland,  I purchased a UV-C light based on recmommendations to stop the growth getting any worse which worked. I was able to get a hold of Es via another forum member, initiallly I had been advised by a vendor that Es was too busy to help as he had other commitments, this turned out not to be the case,  Es was able to clean and re-assemble the lens with which turned out to be quite a job (Skywatcher APO). He did a great job and I recommend him.

  12. Hello ,

Had mine for over 1 year now and love this little portable mount. I have just over 4 kgs and have no issues, run everything via ASI plus. Typical RMS around 0.7 -1.00 however been as low as 0.4.

My intention was to start with the gti and upgrade to an AM5?   no longer my plan as the gti works brilliantly.

    Some recent images with it.
